Book Singapore Air Business Class Using Mileage

Singapore air and Velocity points are interconvertible with some degree of fee (=ratio)

I've converted all the Velocity points to Krisflyer and booked business flights from there to date but realised there is Virgin codeshare flights for Singapore air.

So wonder is it wiser to book codeshare flight from Virgin using Velocity points directly?

Anyone has similar experience?

    Short answer - it varies.

    Singapore release more award seats available then Virgin will, so that is a consideration.

    Also isn't it too late if you have already transferred?? You have to pay the fee again if you try and convert back, so definitely won't be worth it then.

    Unfortunately by already transferring your Velocity Points to KrisFlyer, you've locked yourself in to a higher price.

    For example, SYD-SIN
    * Booked through VA points = 65,000 + $90
    * Convert VA points to 58,000 Krisflyer miles = 78,300 VA points + $90

    Of course, if there was only availability on Krisflyer, then that's alright.

    I don't recommend you try convert your Krisflyer points back to Velocity - you will lose another chunk like that.

    There are some good perks of having the points in Krisflyer over Velocity. One thing is that it costs no more Krisflyer points to fly around most of Asia, compared to just flying to Singapore. I think the main exclusion from this is northern Asia.

    SYD-SIN-BKK will cost 58,000 Krisflyer miles, which is the same points as SYD-SIN. Just pay the additional taxes.

    Comparing that to Velocity points, the SYD-SIN-BKK leg would cost 78,000 Velocity points and taxes.

    So in this example you are only down 300 points by converting to Krisflyer and taking and additional leg. But it depends on the legs you intend to take, no one answer unfortunately.

    Another good perk is that Krisflyer also allows extended stopovers if you are connecting, either for free or $100 more depending on weather you take a return or one way redemption, respectively.

    And its already been mentioned that availability of flights can often be better on Krisflyer.
