Letter from Santa - $0.65 @ Australia Post

960

Now to see who the Grinchs are ;)

Time to start planning for that busy stressful day, and here's something nice I'm sure the younger kids will get a kick out of :)

Hell maybe even the bikies and Westpac employees would like one :)

You get a reply sent back to you. Hence the title "letter from Santa"

  • +4

What is the normal price of this bargain?

    • +7

Normally the cheapest cost to send anything anywhere with Australia Post is $1, so merely accepting your 'TO' letter for less than that is a 'bargain'.

      • +12

Can we wish for santa to forward the letter on to someone else?

    • Busineses sending bulk promotional mail can get this rate. But I suppose you get to exchange your plain envelope and letter for nice designer crafted and printed one.

    • +4

      Hey, you're not jv!

      • +1

        D3m3ntia, username checks out.

  • Do they have to refer to him as Santa? Cant they just call him Holiday Man?

      • +26

        Whhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ?

        • +12

Ahhh but what comes after Christmas?? Starts with a 'B'
          Ends in 'oxing day sales'

        • +5

You're a true Ozbargainer if you buy the sale items on Boxing Day and keep to gift next Christmas…

        • @hell0: Misanthropy?

        • -2

          @Meconium:

No, I love people. I love being around people.

However I always laugh at the Simpsons episode where Lenny spends holidays at the Shopping Centre pretending to leave the car park and getting other drivers hopes up. lol

      • Thanks for ruining my day :(

      • No way! I saw him every year in the mall, even my sons recognise him!

      • That is utter crap!

Hell, here's six of them getting into the Christmas spirit.

    • +10

why yes, yes they do.. and No, no they cannot. It is Christmas and we have Santa :)

    • No

    • +6

Well, in our society we celebrate Christmas and we have the Santa Claus.
If you don't like it I don't mind if you call it whatweveryouwish at home.
You can Call it Holiday instead of Christmas. And you can call Santa Claus "the man with boxes".
But don't push that to the others and don't push that to the public.
In my country we don't have Santa. But now I live in this country and I will call the guy Santa Claus and not forcing you guys to call it whatever we call it.
      Please don't spoil the tradition.

      • +1

Let the man call the fictitious present deliverer, celebrating the fictitious birth of a fictitious demigod whatever he likes!

      • -2

Do we have to call it a tradition? I mean it's not a tradition in everyone's belief system. Can't we just call it an annual occasion where the holiday man delivers items under a pine tree?

    • +5

      Holiday Man

      TRIGGERED

  • +19

It probably won't get delivered… after all, it's Australia Post.

    • +15

You'll receive it on the 29th..

      • +15

        …of January

        • +29

          So their service has improved?

        • +8

          @FabMan:

          Sorry…

          2019 :)

        • +10

          @bricabrac89:
          So their service has improved?

        • …2030

        • @Quantumcat: press ‘Edit’, delete all the text, then press ‘Post Comment’, then save and an unpublish comment option will appear in red up the top.

        • @stickyfingers: Thanks that worked!

        • @FabMan: gonna be hard to improve with various cost saving actions

        • +1

@Hunnypooh: Yes, it is going to be tough, right?. Like the executive salaries are just too small. In 2014, 409 AusPost employees where on just $200,000 or more. 409!!! In 2015 they did improve the rules (for themselves) so they no longer have to let the public know! But to be fair, the last CEO, the highest paid post master in the world, getting paid just $10.8 million dollars last year and now the new CEO reportedly is getting slightly less. No wonder things are getting worse with such little pays, right?

Ill just wait for a letter from bugs bunny 🐰

Lol you beat me to it. The price has gone up, I didn't think it was so expensive. Last I checked, and all I remember, was their promise of answering every letter. This was 10+ years ago so things could have changed.

Edit: Interesting statistic, Santa has received 17 million letters since 1985 from about 200 countries.

      • +1

Yeah price went up because of climate change. Nowadays there is less snow so Santa has to use Tesla ;)

    • So what you are saying is at 65c this truly is a bargain

  • so after paying 65c and drop in the post box, what do I get in return? 65c refund?

    • +8

You get that warm feeling of kepping australia post going.

      • Hey Australia Post, I'm not Santa!!!

  • +14

Australia Post will likely deliver it to Satan.

    Which would actually be impressive.

    • and the return letter will be sent to your neighbour, I would say do it!

    • Noted in my calendar that hell freezes over with festive joy on delivery day December 29th.

I did make a few promises for that day.

    • He just resigned didn't he?

  • +19

Used this service last Xmas. Sent two letters to them at the beginning of November for my two kids. Received 1 letter close to the end of January for my daughter and never received a reply for my son. Very hesitant to use this service again. Seems that they Austpost play on the hearts and minds of parents and children to earn a quick buck.

    • +2

Sounds like a good reason to neg this deal.

    • Thanks for sharing.
Maybe worth of a -ve? Not only loosing the 65cents but kind of ruining it for the kids.

    • +1

      Shit :( sorry to hear

    • +8

To be honest, maybe Santa knew your son had been naughty and decided he didn't deserve a reply.

    • I sent two letters (2 x postage stamps) last month for the kids. Hope they receive a response before Christmas.

  • +1

I celebrate Hannukah. Do they have letters from an awkward armadillo?

  • Extra ammo to support parents lies to their kids!

    Cue hate!

  • +1

    Santa! I love that guy.

  • Note to the dyslexic: S A N T A
We are talking about the fat Christmas guy with the red suit and beard, not the evil horned one.

  • +1

Years ago kids used to send such letters without a stamp. By all means send the letter but I recommend making up your own reply and mailing that at the same time. Save your kids the heartbreak of not getting a response before xmas. Santa ain't no damn miracle worker.

  • +1

Got to say, the last thing AusPost need is an increased workload.

Folks, please don't use this service.

You can pretend yourselves and the kids won't be disappointed.

    • +2

I say the more we use the service the more jobs we are keeping. We either use it or lose it.

      • +1

I'm not suggesting people stop using AustPost - just that they aren't providing a good service so why make it worse?

And they're privatised now, if they could automate every job they would in a heartbeat.

  • +1

Dear Santa, I wish Austpost would stick to delivering the mail on time instead of these cheap gimmicks.

    • +1

Its not a new service, its been around for over a decade, maybe more.

    • +2

What a great way to create a mail spam list.

  • +1

So get the kids to post their letters without a stamp. Respond as Santa. Price = free. What am I missing?

  • I sent my nekkid pic to santa.

    • He said he was impressed by your third leg.

  • -2

i'm pretty sure santa isn't real

    • He is real. He had his hands down my pants

      • …he must have lost his sack and was looking to take yours.

  • Seriously though, which public servants are actually being paid to read these letters?

    • I heard it was Kevin Rudd

    • I don't think they actually read them.
      P.s Santa isn't real.

  • Santa is an anagram of Satan. Both wear red PJs never seen in same place at the same time. Think about it.

    • Not true, one is an old jolly round man, the other is Harvey Weinstein
