I was looking at the 535/256GB, M.2 @ $87.20, pick-up at Woolies.

Anyone here have any experience with that model?

  • Spend a bit more and get a samsung NVME ssd.

yeah but i doubt the samsung is twice as good as the intel ssd

the price is pretty much twice as much!

    • Samsung of this capacity looks like quite a bit more….

I realize there are varying types & performance— but is this decent for that coin?

Hoping someone here has it & can pipe in??

      Thanks all

the specs are fine, its an intel, of course its decent and a real good buy for the money

you're almost at the good ol' days pricing

        just buy it

I think these are the really old TLC SSD's with the slow DRAMless controllers.

You're better off getting a slightly decent MLC SSD for a slightly higher price.
In day-to-day use, you'll actually notice a decrease in power consumption AND increase in performance with such models.
I'm talking about the: Crucial MX300, the 2017 NEW Model WD Blue 3D, the NEW SanDisk Ultra 3D, and Samsung EVO 850.

**(there's also the Crucial BX300 which is a mixed result since its slightly worse than the MX300 at random speed, slightly cheaper, slightly more power thirsty, but sustains its performance really well even when it is relatively full, unlike the competition.)

Going further, there's really only the Samsung 960 PRO to step upto.
And while that is definitely faster, it would be really hard to detect in day-to-day use. Its also at the point of diminishing results, so you'd be paying through the roof for it.

  • This Intel 535 M.2 SSD runs on SATA. If your MB's M.2 socket supports NVMe then you are wasting your M.2 and money with this drive.

    • The deal expired on the 9th.

And yes, I do know SSD is not the same as NVMe— but others might not, so thanks for sharing that.

      Ta
