Lenovo N23: USD $249 Vs AUD $719 Here

I was looking at this laptop as its seems to be recommended slash required by some schools:

https://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/lenovo-n-seri…

Now firstly this is extremely high dollars for the spec you get… let's count them:

crappy celeron
768p screen
4gb soldered
Win 10S edition

granted its touch and ruggedised (to a degree) and you get 128Gb but in the context that they sell a lot to schools or parents…

but wait, theres more

https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/lenovo-n-series…

$249 us granted its a tad lower spec but it still doesnt add up

Such a laptop wont give you a satisfactory experience but that's perhaps me thinking… a student with this thing forced onto them would be less able to articulate their concerns.

  • That has to be a mistake… no way those low-end specs should be worth anything more than $300. Even with exchange rate, 320 and 720 AUD is more than double the price.

    • +1

Companies still like to treat Australian consumers as if they were idiots because mostly we let them.. in America the people don't stand for this sort of bullshit so they get cheap prices but they think it's ok over here because we are all well off supposedly and will pay for quality and equality and all that bs.

I hate that we are seen like rich, well off consumers and so we must pay a premium because of that.

Also the absurd inflation of shipping costs and import duty fees kills all international business here except for maybe some smaller or cheaper products like from the Chinese and etc.

I never understood why it is we get so shafted on things like these.. I mean i know it costs money to deliver something but not that much money per item.

  • 719 AUD for N23 is prob due one of the reseller putting crazy margin on top. vendor price and end user price is totes different; maybe switch reseller?

    • lenovo sell direct - in fact, since its off their own site, it should be obvious
