Neg for poor previous customer service

    • Are they legit though?

      • +1

        They're grey import, genuine products.

All claims for defects have to be made through Duty Free Island, which is where the problem lies!

        • Grey import is often legit products but 'not for this market'. ie: Raybans, legit frames, but basic chemist level lenses. They are legit though, just not the same as you will buy here, for a lot more money. However, the grey import if you found it in its market would be a lot cheaper than the apparent deal.

        • @Tuba: where have you gotten this Rayban grey market example from???

Rayban product is rayban product. There’s no crappy lenses for second market version.

There is only genuine or fake.

        • @mooney: Catch of the Day. I currently have several pairs of RBs purchased locally from SunglassHut, all polarised, and have had a few previous some P others not, and even had a pair of Killer Loops that Im fairly sure were luxotica too, so Im familiar enough with their lenses that I could tell straight away the lens was cheap. I bought the particular pair for my son to wear to the beach etc as he was a typical teenager and would lose them. He wears optical glasses with transitions normally, but these were for days he wore contacts. I took these 'rbs' to SunglassHut in Myer, lady worked there for years said the frame was right, but like me agreed the lens was just a lens, not RB quality. She pulled a pair of the same sunnies from her cabinet and compared them. It was easy to see the frame was spot on, and the lens cheap UV chemist type lenses. Still not servo garbage, but not quality RB either. She suggested often the cheap RBs people pick up OS, are genuine, but not for 1st world markets. The lens being where they cut costs.

COTD refunded, but not before declaring they do not sell fakes. I got them through OzB.

        • @Tuba: the advice you received wasn’t correct. Rayban do release curated assortments for different regions but never do they release reduced quality lenses to save on costs. Store associates don’t have any insight into the manufacturing processes so the lady was giving you a guess, not reality.

If you received product with poorer quality lenses (than the same product on the shelf in the SGH store) then the only answer I can give you is they were not genuine.

        • @mooney: If you have some inside information, you should take it up with COTD. If you dont have inside information, then….

        • @Tuba: Was trying to be helpful as what you had shared and been told wasn’t correct.

What would you expect me to say to COTD? Some guy of the internet believes he got sub quality lenses once. Don’t know what style, time period, etc etc.

        • @mooney: Funny, so was I.

What would you have me do, take a random internetsters opinion, or a long serving retailer of said product? And a side by side of the two items?

No, I would suggest if you have a vested interest or employment with Luxotica, watch the regular COTD sales of discount RBs. Buy some, and catch them yourself.

But technically, I probably still have access to a record of, the transaction on that site, the refund, and the reason. Id possibly still have the emails.

        • @Tuba: Checking COTD for fake product isn’t my job. There are literally millions of fake Raybans made annually so there are global and local teams who check for counterfeit items.

I’ve no idea whether the items sold on COTD are legit, I’d assume they would be as it would be a crazy poor decision on their part to sell counterfeit.

What I can explicitly confirm is there’s no low cost, cheaply made, collection of Raybans made for the third world.

Anyway. Glad you got your refund.

        • @mooney: Call them what you like, COTD sold them, and the lens was the only difference, and very noticeably. Not only were they less clear, more dark, but flatter. Same model numbers on the frames.

"I ordered an Orient Curator which seized within 3 months of minimal use.

I contacted DFI and they advised I send the watch back to the so they could organise repair, as there is no Orient service centre in my country.

I sent the watch in July 2016. DFI screwed me around continually, with delays and excuses.

As of February 2017, after numerous email exchanges where only excuses have been offered, I still don't have my watch back, so I am out hundreds of dollars.

DFI should be avoided - they don't care about their customers after they have made a sale."

That's my original complaint as of February 2017. They posted the watch back in April, it was still broken.

We are very sorry for that. Usually the repair is made in the customer's country but when there's no service centre there we sent to the service centre ourselves. This delay mentioned is not the usual and I apologize for that. We always check the watch before sent it back but there may have been a mistake while checking. Unfortunately We didn't hear from about this last part before. Please contact us again so we can solve this problem for you.

          Thanks

        • @Dutyfreeisland:

For those watching at home, be aware that with a bunch of companies, they won't service your watch under warranty if it hasn't been purchased from an authorised reseller (which DFI is not).

So even if there was a service centre in Australia, it would still have to go back to DFI, and you'd be subject to them not caring.

Double check if any glasses you are interested in are "Asian Fit" or not. Essentially the frames are a different shape for different facial structures.

I say this because I typically buy the same style / model of glasses every time (because I know they fit / suit me) and noticed the "Asian Fit" text and emptied my cart after googling what the hell that meant.

    • Oh yep, good tip for eye wear in general.

I once bought snow goggles that were "asian fit" and they didn't seal quite right. Sub-zero winds right into one of my eyes for the trip!

    • Thanks for the feedback. I've edited the description.

      • +1

So rather than advise people of the fit you'd rather skip the description if it states that it's not suitable for some?

Quickly siding with the screwed over ozbargainer on how poor the service is, and when your an online store price and reputation is all there is.

    • +1

That's only partially true; in the sports range (think Jawbreakers, Radarlock, etc.) the frame shape is no different between "standard" and "Asian-fit". The only difference lies in the nose-piece.

For non-sport glasses, yes potentially the frame can be different (for example, those with integrated nose-bridges)

      • Hi,

        @rekabkram @devpress

        Thanks for the feedback.

Exactly, the different kind of fit does not mean it is not suitable for some people. They have just different sizes as it is described on the product page.

They have adjusted nose and bridge size. These models are made for lower or minimal nasal bridges or high cheekbones. Also called "Alternate fit" for some other brands.

        Thanks

  • Can you order sunglasses that are out of stock?

    • Hi,

It's not possible to order a product that is out of stock.

You can sign up to get notified when the product is back in stock on the product page.

      Thanks

  • May I ask if the Oakley Jawbreaker comes with a soft vault case and original packaging?
