What multi-coin Crypto wallet would you recommend?

Hi everyone,
Been looking into Cryptocurrency more and more recently and have decided to bite the bullet.
I've created a wallet on MyCelium but it seems to be for BTC only.
Are there any wallets you would recommend that can support multiple coins and are not based on an exchange?
Thanks in advance.

  • Jaxx and Green Address are both worth looking at.

If you're willing to fork out some cash, Ledger Nano S is a hardware cryptowallet that supports multi-currency.

    • Thanks, haven't come across those before so will have a read on those.
I have seen the Ledger Nano S but haven't decided how much I'm going to throw at Cryptocurrency yet.

Really happy with Exodus as Jaxx have been hacked in the past. None hold all coins yet so hopefully in time one will have them all.

        • Can't seem to find Exodus in the Play Store, seems to be a desktop one?
Gonna look into this tonight and compare with Coinomi.

    • Avoid JAXX security issues..

    • apologies for recommending Jaxx. I moved to Ledger sometime ago

  • Coinomi is great for Android.

    • I just punched that into the Play Store and started reading some of the feedback. Apparently there has been some privacy issues with this.
I haven't looked much into yet, a thing for me to do when I get home.

Ledger or Trezor. Ledger has more alt coin support at present.

    • +1 for Ledger Nano S and buy from the ledger website

  • Ledger or Trezor. If you invest over 1000 dollars into Crypto (and don't hold on an exchange) then a hardware wallet is the ONLY way to go.

IF you don't, you'll eventually just be another schmuck who had x000 worth of crypto stolen.

    Other tips -

Use 2 factor authentication (use the google app), this will protect you on exchanges (other than if they get Goxxed).

Thanks, I've downloaded Coinomi for now.
Not really going to dive into it fully yet, just gonna test the waters and see what it's like.
Maybe eventually I'll be more invested and get those hard drive wallets.

  • Hey, any recommendations for multiple crypto currency wallet for ios? I'm using coinbase which only holds 3 currencies.

    • BREAD wallet

  • Hi all, rather than opening a new thread I thought I will ask my question here. There are mainly 3 different types of wallet: Hardware, paper and software (be it desktop, web or mobile app-based). Am I correct to say that basically all these wallets are only to save our private and public key and nothing else? All data (ie. our transactions and balance) is still stored on the blockchain? Will that also mean that if we use hardware wallet and we lost our password, so long we know our private and public key we still have access to our fund?

    Looking for some enlightenment. Thanks.

    • that's right, you only ever have your private key stored, in the case of a hardware wallet you can't even see them (for security reasons) but if you lost the wallet you can recover instantly using the recovery seed of 24 words.

If you lose your seed, just transfer to another wallet you have the seed for it (I have 2 ledgers just in case I lose one).

If you lose the seed and the wallet, then you're done.

      • Thanks @lucas001 for confirming that. I guess with paper wallet that's my only defence. When someone has access to my paper wallet then I am done. While with hardware wallet, they need to have access to my hardware wallet AND know my password.

        • that's why I never had a paper wallet and probably never will.

  • Hey guys a little off topic has anyone heard of DENT coin?
