Bought 2 aldi jeans for $1.99 each, one stretch one not. Fits me ok.

Gotta compare apple to apple though. In the raw jeans department their price are quite reasonable. Of course the standard jeans will always be cheaper. Its like buying a nice watch. I could buy a $50 watch and still does the job. But they are two different product

      • Interesting. What do you see as the main advantages of raw denim?

        • +2

This will be my first one so I couldn’t really vouch for it. But im interested to try because (1) the material is thicker, im hoping i can use this when I go to Japan in winter so i can skip the long john (2) the fading are a lot more contrast (also due to material thickness) and more personalised to your body (3) the satisfaction feeling of personalising the jeans fade and seeing it changes colour over time

I would say its like buying a nice leather accessories. I have some really nice one that just fades so nicely as it age. Synthetic leather or some badly produced leather will either break apart or just looks dirty

  • Price in title please

    • Thanks to whoever putting it in. It was 2 am and half sleep when I posted this haha

Woah. $82 USD. I'll take my branded, cheaper jeans.

Not a bad price for raw denim, I've read that they have quite a good reputation too. I was looking for a pair of raw denim a few weeks ago myself. I instead ended up settling for a pair of selvedge jeans from uniqlo, just because I couldn't find any raw denim that fit well.

    Good luck!

    $82 USD

    They having a laugh?

  • fit is always the challenge, to save on material or a fashion trend, they always seem to make them tight in the legs which is a nuisance when you want to sit down ……. even the relaxed cut ones in most brands….. not as roomy as they were 15 years ago.

free shipping …… if kmart and target can get jeans on a shelf at$15 and make money i’m sure unbrandeds costs couldn’t be much more to make so heaps of margin to offer free shipping.

There's a huge gap in quality between K-Mart and Target clothing and designer brands. I wear an $8 pair of chinos from K-Mart to work some days, and a $180 pair from Reiss other days. The quality is night and day.

The same would apply to jeans. This particular brand is to compete with higher end brands, and according to many reviews they succeed.

Also, according to OP he was after a pair of raw denim jeans, which will likely never be available at a place like K-Mart or Target. $82USD is actually a great price for quality raw denim.

      • +1

Sometimes the quality is different and sometimes it isn't.

      • Try these as mentioned in another comment https://www.hallensteins.com.au/product/ifd-slim-clean-raw-j…

They have a few types and $99 for two compared to $106 for one.
Just a thought, I don't like raw denim myself. And of course quality clothes are a heap better than $10 Kmart.

There is zero quality difference between "raw" denim and any other. It simply means it hasn't been washed at the factory. There appears to be large number of fools claiming it's higher quality.

        • +2

That is incorrect. That is like saying all cars are the same (or all battery chargers are the same, for the readers or this forum). These are heavyweight raw selvedge denim jeans made on old shuttle looms, & are absolutely different to other "raw" jeans you may see at Target etc. They aim to compete with brands charging $300+.

        • They are definitely not the same. Its different material and these 82USD raw denim are made from 14.5oz cotton (and they also do 21oz). Its a lot thicker material than your normal denim.

          @ispace:
i think they mean that just because it says Raw that does not automatically mean better quality, Raw just mean unwashed - you can get all types of quality.
Selvedge is just that Self edged denim, again that does not mean better quality (and to be honest I thought all denim was selvedge as thats how it is at the loom).

And really, in a few years when the Raw trend moves on to something else, the next best thing will be the expensive denim - thats fashion for you.

BTW, I would never wear $10 kmart jeans, no way are they the same look or quality as more expensive ones. Pay around $100 or more and you'll get something that fits and feels great (and doesn't look like old dad jeans - even though I'm an old dad myself). Just like $100 polos look a heap better thean $5 BigW ones.

Can I try them on before paying for them?

We think overpriced and overhyped jeans are silly."

    There you have it people

    • +2

      These are selvedge denim jeans

  • Is raw denim a thing or is it a spezzy buzz/trigger word like these idiots who carry on about raw/paleo diets.

Are these jeans paleo? Do people actually get overhyped for jeans? So many questions…

    • These jeans are certified gluten free. Can other jeans claim this?

    • LOL

    Somehow I read 2 bucks.

Yeah, 82 can (profanity) right off. I would buy 8 pairs for that, and have the 2 bucks change to go buy a pair of socks to wear with my new jeans.

    • My current jeans are from bestnless - bought on sale for $5.

They all seem to be them awful button on 'zip' jeans. Made in Macau though :3

    • Same Macau factory as APC it seems?

I'll come off as an elitist here, but, I can imagine a fair majority of OzB's don't necessarily care for decent fashion. So no wonder people are complaining about the price. I have a pair, which are now way too big because of weight loss. There were exactly what you wanted in raw denim and I would highly recommend them. Though I did buy them from Urban Outfitters back in the day for just shy of AUD$90.

    • +2

These are cheap for what they are and offer great value, but you're right - I don't think there are many people cruising around here on OZB who are interested in expensive, $250+ jeans for whom a $100 pair of selvedge jeans is actually a bargain.

FWIW, I've gone through a few pairs of these jeans only because I've lost weight and no longer fit the old ones. They're raw denim so they don't get washed [1] - my current pair has been worn to work 5 days a week for the last year so I'm at ~50c per day. They still look fantastic with some light wear lines forming in the creases, a little bit of stretch and softening. I imagine I'll get another year or 2 out of these ones without issue.

Who the hell buys Jeans without first trying them on? Really? Do people do that? Even Aldi jeans if they squish your ass or crush your nuts you can take them back (the jeans, not the nuts) for a swap/refund.

  • +1

Not as good of a deal but you could check out weargustin.com as it's at the same price point I think.

I have a pair of jeans from them and they have worn well, did not wash them for ages LOL
