I bet dentists don't stay in business very long if they don't understand high pressure sales tactics. It's not like they are doctors or anything.
Better than the sight of rotting / missing teeth, or worse than that - tooth pain!
It's like those free car services though. If dentists were honest about what's necessary and what actually needs crowns/bridges compared to fillings then i'd have more faith in the system. There shouldn't be differing opinions in this day and age for oral care.

Whether you are cheaper or not isn't the issue, dentistry in Australia is a rip-off.

@Scab: You are just unaware of how much the materials and such cost in Dentistry. If you knew, then you would be thinking it is fair priced. ( more western suburbs)
I'm assuming by you saying "in australia" that you are referring to other places such as asian countries as being cheaper.. But quality and convenience is a factor there.
Some people care about their health and are willing to figure something out, such as health insurance. And most dental practices offer interest free payment plans as well.

I've heard that excuse before, but plenty of businesses have substantial operating costs yet don't gouge the hell out of people like dentists do.
If you want to be wealthy, become a dentist.
You're just whinging. Dentists are highly skilled, good ones are great. It's your health, think of how much money you blow on rubbish, incl. food like Dominos, which is garbage. It's not more expensive than many other medical professions.

I had my 6 month regular check + xray the other day, was $300ish before my insurance knocked 2/3 of it off.. May give some idea.

The website says 30 mins for the promotion. How is 30 mins enough time to provide a comprehensive initial examination and consultation?
I agree 30min is a bit short. But a lot better than other doing 10min cleans.
30 min? I had a oral exam was about 30 sec in North Sydney. I had a loose tooth and called up my local dentist. They asked me to come in and did a super quick exam. All I was told are extraction and bridge. The entire procress was definitelg less than 1 mins lol and I paid 68 bucks.
Were you in pain? Was it an emergency consult?
I was pain but not that bad. Not emergency. It was Monday afternoon. They consulated me just because next customer was about 3 mins away😅😅😅
I had same experience with my specialist. My first visit was all about having MRI check. The doctor said I read your medical history and I will put you to MRI. Wtf i could ask my GP to do that. Watse my 230 dollar. Even the assistance was surpised. Dont really undetlrstand how Australia medical care system works.

Hi, 30 min is ample of time with our experienced Dentists. We have 2 dentists with over 15 years of experience and one was with HCF for almost 10 years. I understand your concern but 30 minimum is more than enough time.
for $89 you can expect a 10 minute half arse clean and booted out the door
our system schedules patients for 30+ mins so we don't expect anything less than 30 min. Thanks

For the time poor, you can have your teeth and toes done at the same time, just make sure you sit the right way round in the chair.
