GoDaddy.com offers a new 1-year domain name registration or transfer for $1 via coupon code "SCARYONE". That's tied with our mention from a month ago as the lowest total price we've seen for domain names at GoDaddy.com this year. (This offer isn't limited to .com domains; .org, .net, .biz, and others are also eligible.) An 18-cent ICANN fee applies. <b>Coupon ends November 27 or after 10,000 uses.</b>

Thanks! I just used this and it works.
Be careful though, they put an automatic payment of "WebSite Tonight Economy (recurring)" automatically. So just log in and cancel that after the payment.

EDIT: it does not say anywhere.. but I can only get it working on one domain… was going to buy a few haha

  • Just grabbed one. It's so fast buying through the GoDaddy iPhone app. Only takes a few clicks and you avoid all the advertising you get on the site.

  • GoDaddy used to give free anonymous/private registration when you bought 6 (or perhaps it was 5) domains or more… dont know if they still do, or if you can combine it with this offer.

After your first year is up move the domains to another host as GoDaddy charges for Private Registration while many other companies give it free always.

  • Nice, bought! Wandering, can I put crap details for registration? i.e. Dont want the world to know where i live!

      yep

    • Yes and no… should your site become popular and checked then wave goodbye to the domain… though you are 99.99% safe…

just get private registration… its 5 domains to get free private registration, I checked… IF this voucher only works once you could probably pick up 4 .info for the same price as GoDaddy charge for private, which would be better value of course.

The irony is that people who used domain privacy have run into ownership issues with their domain, more so than those who've used fake details it would seem.

The safest option is to use your real name because the "owner" field is the most important and may be hard to change, but a fake address that looks genuine on the surface (e.g. a real street in an actual suburb with matching postcode, but nonexistent house number - perhaps even better a PO Box as it's hard to verify their non-existence) and similar deal for phone numbers. Contact details can easily be corrected if the domain starts to gain attention/value.

Yes true a perfectly freely available VOIP number would no doubt do for the telephone bit…

      • the trust in fellow man is truly remarkable! 0.01% chance.. so your saying theres a chance!!
        Thanks…
Seems a bit stretched to me.. http://com-uk.us/black-hat-seo/godaddy-free-private-registra…

Nice!! Seems like there is a limit of 1 per customer though.

Just be careful of GoDaddy before you use them for anything important.

If your domain becomes popular, GoDaddy might just resell it on auction without your permission.

    Take a look at nodaddy.com

No wonder the voucher code is "SCARYONE"! ;-)

    • thanks for bringing this to attention. Their 60 day non-transfer of domain name policy/trick is a no-deal for me. I'd rather pay $10 and avoid all the worry and hassle

      • So which domain name seller would not have this problem?

  • Who do you use to host the data?
