Hi
We live in Qld and recently signed up to Alinta but are now considering staying with AGL as they are also offering 25% off the base electricity rate.
Just wondering whether anyone has been offered a better rate from AGL than 25% and whether it is possible to get a term of 2 years (like Alinta)?
I noticed that the term offered by AGL is only 1 year, which means having to go through the whole process again soon. Plus AGL charge a 0.45% payment fee, whereas Alinta do not seem to.
Also, how long does it take to switch over, as I would hate to be paying the base rate without a discount for months. Is there any set time-frame within which the transfer must be made?
Are there any other pros or cons I am missing or not aware of? I really hate going through this process and know that it sound simplistic, but just wish that everyone would be charged the lowest possible rate to being with.
Thanks :-)
I switched over to Alinta, but I rang AGL before I did asking them to match it and the answer was a flat out NO. So I took my business to Alinta and had an other 2 months left before the switch over to Alinta. A month after signing up with Alinta, AGL rang and offered 26% discount and I asked for it for 2 years and they agreed and they said the discount would be instant.
You can get around the 0.45% fee with direct debit I guess (I wasnt aware of that fee until this post!)
