Tourist Visa cost to India for Australian Citizen on OZ passport.

I am planning to travel to India in a few months.

I went on the website, Tourist visa- Fees and Charges and Fee calculator for E-Visa as a tourist.

I picked the defaults, submit to Melbourne office, 1 year - multiple entry (only option), pay by CC and return passport by courier (only option available for this). The total charge including, visa fee ($186), service fee ($4.16), transaction fee ($4.18) courier fee ($19.95), ICWF Fee (4.00) etc. with GST came to $218.73. Mildly surprised. Does anybody know of a cheaper option to reduce the visa application amount please or is this it?

Many thanks in advance…

We went on a cruise last year. One of the stops was in Cochin, India. It was an overnight stop so less than 2 days in India. Regardless of whether we were getting off the ship, we all had to get Indian tourist visas. All passengers were advised of this. However not all the passengers did this…..maiden voyage for this ship….so it was unlikely to go to Cochin again….so the ship had to bring Indian immigration officers on board while we were in Oman and in the couple of days that it took us to sail to Cochin, the Indian immigration officers set up a processing room….everyone had to go through this circus whether you had the visa or not. It was ridiculous.

So yes you need a visa and the cheapest option would be to lodge it in person. Short interview. Get the visa photo right….follow all the instructions for the square photo….we did this ourselves….you can't get this done anywhere else.

    • Seems like bureaucracy at its height. Thank you.

I went to india in March.

    i used https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html

    evisa - all online

this is the government visa site.

not some middle man who charges you to do the exact same as this site.

takes approx 24-48 hours to get an e-visa.

    costs $50.

you print out 2 copies of the approved visa for showing at immigration when you arrive

    • Many thanks. I shall give it a go :-)

    • ^This.
Got my Visa sorted with way less hassle and cost that I thought it would take. No problems at immigration, would recommend.

As per altomic post - evisa $50.
Just got back from india using this(Sept) - all went okay.
As long as you are arriving in a major city, Mumbai, New Deli etc. (major ports are listed on application site.

    • Many thx 👍

  • OH wow - just leaving this comment guys.

There are so many scam websites for India E-VISA. I almost went through and got charged $215 AUD!!! The SCAM Page had SSL Green tick and everything it need to look official. The scam page pops up number 2 or 3 on the Google!!

So after few minutes i pressed cancel on the last page - i even got a phone call on my mobile and the guy offered to help me finish the application. I declined and he said if you dont finish the application then you cannot apply again for two weeks. (This is a common rushing tactic by scammers!)

The correct website is https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html as ALTOMIC said.

The cost for Australian Citizen is US$80 (as per December 2018)

Hope it help you out. Be careful of the scam sites.

  • If you are going for under 2 months get the e-visa.
