Money Back for Goods Not Received?

I bought a custom built stereo amplifier almost 6 months ago using PayPal but still haven't received it as yet as the seller is a one man operation and has a reputation for lengthy delays. I probably wouldn't be too concerned if the seller had replied to my emails but there has been no response (from him) for the last couple of months and now I am getting concerned that I may never see the amplifier.

I know PayPal has a 180 day rule to make a claim for goods not received (that 180 day period is up soon) but I did use my 28 Degrees credit card to fund the PayPal purchase so does anyone know if I still have some extra extended protection (for goods not received) through my 28 degrees card i.e. longer than PayPal's 180 days.
I really do want this amplifier so am willing to wait for as long as it takes providing I know I have some fallback for reimbursement if it never arrives.

Thanks for any replies.

So why not call 28 Degrees and get a definite answer?

    Sorry what is the question?

As you said, its 180 days with paypal….. After that, you're up a creek with a paddle (and amp).

Seriously 6 months… If it hasn't arrived in 6 months, you have to question it.

I probably wouldn't be too concerned if the seller had replied to my emails but there has been no response (from him) for the last couple of months and now I am getting concerned that I may never see the amplifier.

Send one last email, and then pull the pin. If they're not responding to emails, why do you think they will send you the goods?

but there has been no response (from him) for the last couple of months

    Start the claims process.. now!

  • Chargeback window is typically 120 days from the schemes (i.e. MasterCard/Visa). But depends, can be up to 540 days apparently?

    https://chargeback.com/visa-chargeback-time-limits/

  • Be very careful when making a claim with 28 Degrees and PayPal as I got stuffed around by PayPal. Basically, made a claim via PayPal and it was declined. Made a claim through 28 Degrees and chargeback was issued to me. PayPal then held my account to ransom saying I owed them the amount that the chargeback was credited for because (according to them) i was "double refunding". Spoke with 3/4 of PayPal and told them to check my entire account history for any "double refund", took about 6 months for them to get off their butt and sort it out

  • Get the money back now.
It's been six months, even a single hand manufacturer is quicker than that. Plus you say he's not replying for the last few months…. warning Wil Robinson, warning…

  • Ring them up and Chase them up about it give them hell and if after contacting him or her many times they still don't respond then start the claims process as it might be a lost cause dead end.

Sometimes orders and deliveries get lost in the mail or delivery queue otherwise sometimes it could just be forgetfulness or system error. Try and rule this out first before calling it over and making sure your delivery package is moot.

  • So would it easier to claim via Paypal or get a charge back from 28 Degrees card?
Which option to go for or do both at the same time?

  • Thanks for your replies.

The reason I'm still hopeful that i will eventually get the amplifier is that I know of several other customers that are still waiting for their goods. Some have already received theirs'; some haven't so the delay is across the board so to speak and not just my transaction.
I will try and contact him before the 180 day period is up and either risk that it will eventually be delivered or start the PayPal money back procedure. I did contact 28 Degrees and they told me their charge-back procedure expires after 180 days - the same as PayPal.

some haven't so the delay is across the board so to speak and not just my transaction.

Would it make you feel any better if you lose your money knowing that other people also lost their money? versus if you lost your money yourself?

It's a pretty clear cut case that you haven't received the product, but Paypal claims are sometimes a bit unpredictable in terms of who they favour in the end. So given they both expire at 180 days, I would start the Paypal claims process at a point in time that still leaves you enough time to fall back on the 28 degrees process as a final resort (in the event, for whatever reason, Paypal doesn't rule in your favour).

I'm surprised you're so patient. If it takes over a month, then that's already excessive.

  • If, as you say there has been no response to your emails for the last couple of months, I would not wait any longer before starting the PayPal refund process. If the seller is genuine, then to be sure, once they get advice from PayPal the transaction proceeds are on hold pending reversal, they will contact you in a flash.

    Umm common sense?

No response …. no tracking number….. even after the first month i would have requested a refund.

6 months just shows how easy it is to get money out of suckers.
