Incognito Six Pack $107.10 ($17.85/bt) + $9.95 Delivery @ My Wine Guy

FOOTY10

Until now I had never bought a mystery mixed pack, let alone one that I didn’t know the identity of its wines, however given that the range that My Wine Guy offers is generally highly rated by critics, unlike those of others, and supported by a money-back guarantee, I decided to take my first plunge with this - if you do so as well, then please let us know what you receive :)

Note: FOOTY10 cannot be combined with a $30 referral coupon, which makes the pack $89 ($14.83/bt)

Since January, we've been wine hoarders. Collecting over 1000 bottles of odds and ends from the collection of amazing wines that we sell here at My Wine Guy. All of these, wine were then brought back to our head-office here in Sydney, and repacked in to this glorious 'Incognito Six Pack' you see before you. We are talking over 100 different wines, from all over the world, skewed more towards the red-spectrum, and worth upwards of $300 to $400 a six pack. Unfortunately we can't tell you whats in every single box, but rest assured the quality of wines for the price you are paying is un-bloody-believable. Without question, this is the best mixed six of Mystery wines around.

Here's just some highlights from a few cases I pulled together - 2014 Yangarra Ironheart Shiraz ($110), 2015 Hardy's Eileen Hardy ($90), 2015 Sons of Eden Zephyrus ($45), Marchand & Burch Clos de Vougeot ($350), Salo Yarra Valley Chardonnay ($40), Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock Shiraz ($90), Tappanappa Pinot Noir ($45) and so on. The list is endless, but the real-world value, palpable.

Rest assured, every single wine in this case will have a minimum of $25 RRP; however most cases will amount to at least $250 worth of quality wine.

Where possible, we try to include 5 red wines, and one white wine, however this may change on a per case basis. This is, after-all a lucky dip, so we ask that you take this in to consideration when purchasing the wines.

  • I'm curious to hear what wines the pack includes, looking forward to an update once you receive them :)

  • Possible won't happen. Promised will. You will get $250 of wine. That won't include grand cru burgundy.

  • Haha are you sure tightwad?

I've ended up purchasing with the $30 off. Only reason I purchased is that My Wine Guy has pretty solid stock across the board without much of the generically branded junk you typically see. That being said, perhaps it was a bad call, I don't have terribly high hopes. I guess we will see.

  • Anyone received theirs yet?

    • +1

Nope. Mine arrives tomorrow. Will post then. Also deal is back in stock.

  • So here is my case: My consensus at the point is, not so much a lucky dip. Comes across as quite a constructed pack. 5 wines at a $25 RRP price point (real world price?) and 1 at a higher price point..

    • 2010 Grant Burge Corryton Estate Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (RRP: $185?)
    • 2016 Bannockburn Vineyards 1314 A.D. Pinot Noir (RRP: $30 MyWineGuy RRP: $35.00)
    • 2015 Astrolabe Valleys Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc (RRP: $30)
    • 2014 Mons Rubra Pinot Noir (RRP: $29? MyWineGuy RRP: $42)
    • 2015 Lagrimas De Maria Rioja Tempranillo (IMPORT RRP: $24.99)
    • 2014 Dalla Mia Finestra Cabernet Sauvignon (RRP: $25 MYWineGuy RRP: $30) (**This is a strange one, since this pack is advertised as 'left overs' but MyWineGuy still has it listed on site available in cases)
  • My pack was exactly the same. I'm fairly happy, haven't tried any of these before and the majority are well rated (by the gents at wine-front who I trust). The Rioja looks a disappointment (sells for $6 overseas), but for $15/bottle I think the rest represent fairly good value.

    • Exactly the same? Hardly a 'lucky dip' as advertised then.

      • I picked mine up yesterday, entirely different box. Included a bottle of Bass Phillip Crown Prince, so I'm pretty happy with that alone (well worth the $50 a bottle if you can find it, this was a 2011 so not the best year though).

Looks like one good bottle with 5 ok ones is how it works out. Also got
        * 2008 Andrew Seppelt Eden Valley Riesling (2010 is $25)
        * 2015 Xanadu Chardonnay ($30 at dans)
        * 2014 Oakridge Single Vineyard Cab Sauv ($38 at winery)
        * 2013 St Hallett Scholz Shiraz ($30-40ish? Had this before and enjoyed it though)
        * 2012 Thelema Cab Sauv (South African wine) (RRP $59ish? About $AU30 converted from the RSA price on their website)

Biggest problem was the Riesling, it was too big for the box and the seal looks a little dodgy (it's all warped). Will be drinking it tonight as a just in case.

  • I temper that with as long as these aren't returns that have been all over country during summer and provenance is shot.
