Philips 'SceneSwitch' 8w ES and Bayonette LED Globe $9.90 (Was $17) @ Bunnings

190

I know OzB has a love affair with Yeelights, but for the technology illiterate this is a good alternative. No need for smartphone or dimmer
Functions the same way LED torches do, with a quick flip of the power switch to change between full light and dim
Was selling for $17, so at $10 right now its 40% off the usual price
Nation wide

See review here for more details on how it works

Edit: Good news! I went down to my local, and they're selling both bayonette and ES types for the same price

  • Damn was excited, been waiting for the 9.5w cool/warm switch!

    • Whats the difference other than the high power consumption?

      • +2

The one on sale is bright, medium, dim. The 9.5w variant switches between two different colours. Cool white and Warm.

Curious who they are price matching though.

    • isnt Aldi, has something ocming up?

8W sounds quite dim. What is that the equivalent to in old-man-speak?

    • 60W

      • Cheers. I guess I am old. 60W to me is too dim.
I use 75W minimum. 3x100W in the kitchen.

Just a note, "ES" stands for Edison screw mount, They are uncommon in Australia

But Philips LED Globes are great!

    • huh? the last 5-6 houses I can think of that I've lived in all used screw fittings as have all the lamps I've used. I have to think back 15-20 years to remember a bayonet style bulb… weird that your experience is different to mine.

      • He's right though. Although use has picked up, bayonette is the predominate form sold in electrical supply stores.

    • What's worse is when your house has both types! Need to keep spares of both types. Plus I've also got those cfl round tube style ones for the kitchen too. :(

      • ha! I actually like to mix them up. We have chandeliers, so the effect is interesting, but yes it can get disorientating when walking from room to room and the light changes.
