What to Upgrade to from iPhone6 for $600ish?

Hi all,
I currently have an Iphone6, and although nothing wrong with it, I'm considering upgrading it. I was holding out for the IphoneX for ages, but quickly canned that idea when I saw the price.

Ideally, the replacement phone could be had with not too much changeover. So that means flagship phones like the S8, Note, IphoneX etc are all out. The PlusOne5 looks nice.

Priorities are camera and battery. I'd assume anything I'd be looking at would probably be better than an Iphone6 anyways.
Or should I just keep my Iphone6? There's nothing wrong with it at all, nor do I feel like it's limiting me in any way.

There's nothing wrong with it at all, nor do I feel like it's limiting me in any way.

You answered your own question. Keep the iphone 6.

    • I’m holding onto my iPhone 6 Plus and it’s working OK. I might still look at the iPhoneX but it better sing a lot for its supper. I would hold onto the iPhone 6 until you find a compelling reason to swap or they stop supporting the IOS upgrades. I looked at the Note 8 but they sure set a premium price for a product that previously had an internal combustion engine.

  • I'm finding my iPhone 6 slower after I installed iOS 10, and am delaying installing iOS 11 as long as I can. You?

  • Only reason I would personally upgrade is if the ram started becoming a limiting factor and programs started either considerably slowing down or closing on their own otherwise ride it out as long as you can unless you really want some special specific features you can only get in other phones like notification display in the lgv20 or larger screen on a mi max etc or prefer another ecosystem like android or etc.

  • What about Oppo?

I don't understand why people feel the need to upgrade perfectly fine working phones. Is it for the status symbol amongst your peers? Its not like new games or apps are being released that require the upgraded processing capacity. For phones with replaceable batteries (pretty much every phone except iPhones) you can just buy a new battery if it starts losing its charge time. I a still rocking a Note 3 and have 2 spare batteries. When it starts to slow down, i just factory reset it and it is like a brand new phone. Rather spend the money on the more important things in life.

    • Or buy a power bank. I only upgrade when my old phone breaks or when it is just too shit. Had a s4 that wouldn't turn on anymore so used the iPhone 4 which was lagging in typing, touchscreen and always freezing in chrome and YouTube.

The Plus models are a definite upgrade, but the base 6-models are getting too old.
    So try to grab a:
iPhone 6S Plus, if you need the headset jack.
iPhone 7 Plus, if you need water resistance.
iPhone X, if you have more money than brains.

The iPhone 8/8 Plus aren't worth upgrading over the 6S Plus, let alone the 7 Plus.

If you want to move to Android I would recommend these guys:
LG G6, if you want it cheap
LG V30, if you want one of the best
Note8, if you need the S Pen
SGS8/8 Plus, if you want an Android version of the iPhone X

There should be more to recommend from the Android camp soon enough.
In particular, from the Pixel, Xiaomi, Huawei and Oppo camp.
Or expensive devices from HTC, Motorola, Sony, Nokia, Lenovo, Asus… … …
    I wouldn't recommend the OnePlus 5.

*some are above your budget, but I put them there just in case you wanted to have a look

  • OnePlus 5, highly recommended, bought one 3 weeks ago to replaced my IPhone 6 Plus, extremely happy with it :)
