Xiaomi Notebook Air 13.3 Where to Buy and Import Tax

I am wanting to buy the new Xiaomi Notebook Air 13.3 with finger print scanner.

Two questions

1. Which company (i.e. Gearbest, Lightinthebox) is best to deal with especially for warranty
2. All the current deals convert to just over $1000.00 is there a way of ensuring that I wont get charged GST for the transaction? If I ask the company can they write a lower cost?
3. Regarding the charger what converter should I be looking to use or is there a AU charger that I can buy?

It seems to be the best value ultra book around at the moment.

  You shouldn't need a converter. Its 110-240V 5V 2A and I think China mostly uses the same plug as we do, a lot of the sellers will throw in an adapter if needed.

  Your going to have a very hard time getting out of the GST.

    Does customs charge on the USD value based on current rates? How do they figure out if you are above the 1k price?

      I am not sure but I just received a phone from gearbest today.

      There is an invoice on the outside showing the exact cost of the phone in USD.

        In contrast to No's experience, I bought a few of the BlitzWolf cables from Banggood for $2.88 USD each and they declared $1.22 USD on the customs declaration.

        I would firstly ask the seller if they can do you a deal for the ultra book priced under the $1000 AUD limit and secondly ask them if they can declare a lower price on the customs declaration. Just be prepared for the fact that customs scan all parcels coming into the country and can still make you pay GST if they believe the declaration has been falsified.

  I'd wait for it to get a bit cheaper if you can, to avoid GST.

  I don't recommend trying to get the 2016 i5-6200U. I ordered from Banggood and then they said no stock and none coming so got a refund, then ordered at gearbest when they said they had 50+ stock and it's now on back order :(

    Yeah that's the one but AU value is just over 1000 .

    Then again a special may happen with the 15 inch pro version due soon
