Free Blood Glucose Meter After Cashback

370

Accu-Chek Performa Blood Glucose Meter Free After $40 Cashback at Terry White Chemist until 3 Nov.

http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/blood-glucose-monitors/accu-ch…

I found this while browsing the Terry White Chemist catalog last night and went to local store bought two of them this morning, one for my parents and one as a gift for my untie. Good as a present to a senior person in the family. And the cashback seems pretty simple, with a cashback form to fill in and to be sent with the receipt, doesn't seem to have one per household kind of limitation.

There were still plenty of them in the store (Toowong, QLD) when i bought them, and i even were offered a first-aid package and a healthy food recipe as bonus with the purchase:-)

P.S. the device seems to be a German brand and made in the US.

Just wondering if this is just at Terry white chemists or any chemist that stocks it?

Chemist Deposit seems to have the same deal until the end of the month:

      http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/blood-glucose-monitors/accu-ch…

      • While i guess other chemist may have the same product with the same cash back forms, but they may sell it for over $40. As the price tag was shown as $49 something in the Terry White store, when i was asking for it.

  • well looks like chemist depot have the same offer. its in their catalogue also

edit. 37 seconds to slow hehe

  • Thanks for the info guys.

Cheers. here's hoping that no one is abusing this offer, as it is really for those people who has this potentially life-threatening conditions.

    • agreed. that is really low life to do that. it aint a toy !

These devices are given out free similar to colour inkjet. They are making money from the test strips.

    • how much are strips?

      • +1

expensive if you are not on the national diabetes scheme (ie you dont have diabetes)

        • +1

Thanks for mentioning that, I'll sign my grandmother up to that. Can you tell me how much it costs for members?

Donkeykong, while it may be true it's not a fair comparison. One cannot die from a lack of ink.

          Big thanks to Saturday!

          $1 a strip normally (http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/product.asp?id=44787&pnam…)

Then on script it is a normal script price (33.30 for general, 5.40 concession and $0 for saftey net)

          On NDDS ( http://www.diabetesaustralia.com.au/ndss/ )

          around $12-15

          Concession Card ($1.10)

Saftey net ($0 meds) - free

good to have with all the lolly and chocolate deals.

  • good deal. i'll pass. i don't anyone in my family needs this.

  • Does this thing prick ur finger - do u need to draw blood for it to test?

  • +3

Consider the cost of the accessories when making the purchase.
You need lancets (to prick your skin) - approx $20 per pack of 100
You also need test strips, which are the expensive ones - $32 per pack of 50 ($14 if you are on NDSS subsidy, $2 if you have a concession card)
Plus annual battery replacement although I think Roche offer a free replacement service for NDSS members. It is not your normal AA or AAA battery.

let me guess, just like the inkjet printer pricing "scheme" this unit comes with 1 or 2 test strips, or none at all??
also, this should be good for the overweight people who need to check for the onset of type 2 diabetes

    • +1

There are about 10 test strips in the original package.

  • Can this be used for the morbidly obese?

Saw the same deal at the Chemist Warehouse about a month ago…..

  • wow, sweet deal

It's funny that some of you guys are bitching about the price of the consumables when this is actually a medical device for blood sugar levels for people with Diabetes.
Luckily some of you have mentioned that the consumables are subsidised for those who need them - at the tax payers' expense.
So for those who need it, it's good.
For those who don't need it, don't buy it.
    Whingers…

  • Can anyone confirm if the $40 cashback sent by cheque?

I took a look yesterday in TW Chemist, the redemption form says $40 voucher (so I assume it is not a cashback but a credit voucher to use for future purchase? )

    • I asked at TW and was told it would be a $40 cheque.

  • Just bought one at Terry White, but there was no mention of the cashback offer nor did the person know about it. Does anyone know how to claim the cashback?

    Thanks.

    • You have to get a voucher from the chemists at TW, you may this in to get your cash back. I'm sure if you go in with your receipt and ask nicely you can get one. You can't claim twice on the same meter so it shouldn't be a problem.

      • Thank you, will go back and ask tomorrow.
