I'm looking for a basic battery operated lamp for a storage shed that has no mains power.
Anyone got some suggestions for a nice bright one?

What sort of light do you need. Enough to move around the mower without tripping over for 30secs, enough to rebuild a mechanical watch for several hours or somewhere in between.
If you wanted a decent light and run time, I'd be getting a small solar panel (20w), and battery sized to the run time and some 12v led down lights. Let's say 3 down lights, 12w each for 3hrs. 3x1ampx3hours = 9ah of battery power, get double that capacity so you don't kill the battery.
If it's just so you can see enough to walk through get a solar shed light, $20. I've got one near the bins, cheap and cheerful, works on a sensor and still going after about 2years. Enough so you don't trip over, but not really enough to see to work in.
