Dell RYZEN 5 Gaming PC - R5 1600X, RX 570 4GB, 8GB DDR4 2400, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD - $1199.20 Delivered @ Dell eBay

2090
POWER20

Original 20% off Selected Tech Stores on eBay Deal Post

Needed a new computer to do some video editing work, been watching the ebay deals but nothing too exciting until this Dell Ryzen price dropped from 1699 to 1499.
Seems about the same price or slightly cheaper than building it myself.

$80 cheaper than this deal a few weeks ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/323906
Not everyone happy with the specs from the last deal but suited my needs, just need to add another 8gb ram

There are only 2 memory card slots but there are also 2 m2 slots.

You can check out the inside of the case on these videos:

Thoughts on this for $400 more? 1700x, 256gb ssd and rx580 instead. Already have 16gb of ram lying around if thats the only issue.

  • anyone know how much the extra 3 yr total warranty is?

    • +1

On their online store the 3 year warranty on this product is $180. Or $290 for the "Premium Support Plus" whatever that does.
This guy on whirlpool claims you can contact the seller and they'll set up a custom listing, but no idea if it will be the same price as it is on the site or how the coupon will interact with this.
      Sorry I couldn't help.

  • Is RX 570 better than Radeon HD 7970M? Will it handle gaming well in 4K?

    • Much, much better than the 7970M. Won't do very good at all @4K though (will be struggling to push 30fps with lower settings on most modern games).

  • How is above Dell specs compare to this 1 year old self-built:
Core I5-7600, Motherboard MSI B250M Bazooka, GTX 1060 ITX OC 6GB, 16GB Ram DDR4 2133, 240 GB SSD. Please I need some advise before pulling some trigger here.

    • There isn't much difference performance wise between the 1060 and RX 570 and yours has double the RAM and SSD storage (obviously). More cores and threads on the Ryzen (will benefit multi-threaded workloads, won't see much/any gain on single), and gaming performance will also be similar on the CPU side.

      • Hi do not,
Thank you for your reply. I have my own 512 SSD so it doesn't matter much between those 2 SSD. RAM IS cheap atm. So if SSD, Ram is the same, which one will have better performance in photos editing, bit of gaming on 4k screen (not that much) and future proof for video editing (say 2 years)?

        • The Ryzen might pull slightly ahead in some photo editing workloads, but nothing 'major'. It'll do a lot better than the i5 with video editing though, and especially encoding.

As for gaming @4K, not much of a difference between the two with current games.

  • Value wise, good price for a prebuilt, especially with the inflated GPU/RAM prices at the moment.

Couple of things to consider if you're planning on upgrading parts down the line:

    • only 2 memory slots
    • 460W psu

Technically speaking, 460W is enough for most modern cpu/single GPU setups (e.g this 1600X + gtx 1080 only hits 270W while gaming) and probably even ok with a slight overclock. Question is, does this Dell use a standard ATX mobo/psu or is it proprietary?

  • I built a hackintosh. Best way to do it is at this link with everything you need: http://www.tonymacx86.com/

As far at Graphics cards go, AMD is the pick for me because it has Vulcan. Doom runs unbelievably well on it.
It also has Freesync, and I have a Freesync monitor. No tearing - very nice.

The Nvidia equivalent is Gsync which is not free and jacks up the price of the monitor.

    • do you game on your hackintosh? also, did you build on this system?

      • -1

Yes but older games, like Dirt 2. Uses the GPU in the CPU - i5. Dirt 2 runs well on the i5 and is a great game by the way, better than Dirt 3 imo. You can install graphics though.

Yes I built it, using instructions from TonyMac. It's nice to have at least one MacOs in the house when needed to run anything Apple specific.

It can be a little complex with getting drivers etc right on Hackintoshes. If you want to build one I wouldn't reinvent the wheel, use an intel CPU and use one of the most popular and least problematic motherboards: http://www.tonymacx86.com/buyersguide/september/2017/

        • What exactly is "Apple specific"? Building a Hackintosh seems entirely pointless to me, and a complete waste for games. I use (and prefer) using a Mac, but why anyone would want to deal with the myriad driver issues and hardware inflexibility just to run macOS instead of buying one escapes me. If you can't afford one then there is absolutely nothing wrong with running Windows. Games (and GPU drivers) are not optimised for Macs period.

        • @khell:

          • The reason is that it's half price. Save $1000+.
          • Apple specfic means MacOs.
          • Once you have it set up it's stable. Updates are optional.
  • Here's a review from linus techtips might not be the exact same specs however its pretty much the same product. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVw9VuofPzU&t=

    • That review seems pretty positive and one of the main gripes, the lack of SSD, is sorted out in this newer version of the system.

I'm sorely tempted by this, having been umming and ahhing for about 2 months over a new PC. I've had Dell machines for both my previous PCs and never had any real issue with either.

      • Well said and as Linus states, you have the benefits of warranty on the whole system rather than the individual parts. You also don't have to worry about build the PC itself if that is something you worry about.

        • Indeed - I'm sure with patience and some videos, I could build my own, but for this price it comes pre-built, pre-tested and with a year's warranty as well. And you know everything is going to work and be compatible with the other elements in the system.

  • AMD to the moon! 🌛

  • Thanks heaps OP. Pulled the trigger.

  • similar MSY build from parts list

    graphics Armor 4G OC RX570 $330
    1600x Ryzen $329
    motherboard MSI A320M PRO-VH PLUS $109
    ssd Transcend ssd220 120gb $85
    hdd WD Blue 1tb $62
    mem 8GB Single 2400 crucial $98
    case+psu aerocool USB3.0 600W Mid CS-1101 $69
    kb/mouse "ALACATROZ Xplorer 5500M KB&MS" $14

    Total $1096

    • What about windows and shipping?

      • Yes this is parts only and also need to build. Many people have Windows keys or can pick them up for close to nothing.

        • You'd be better off pirating windows than picking up one of the keys for next to nothing.

Your parts list is well put together, but, even allowing the lack of windows, it's barely cheaper and this gap will be further shortened by shipping. You could probably diminish this by mixing in a few ebay products with coupons but as Jaybo pointed out yesterday, the complete and tested nature of a pre-built and the reputation of dell and their warranty make this deal worthwhile for more than just the price.

        • @Lief1250: Agree for some people Dell will be more suitable, but for some people not. I'd rather drive to MSY to collect rather than to wait around at home for the courier. I've built around 10 pcs, and the only DOA part I've had was a memory stick which meant an extra trip but they replaced it straight away. With remote companies like Dell you have the courier turnaround thing, printing dockets and boxing it up for returns. That works ok though, but takes longer. I also like to make PCs cool - you can control things much better with your own build and fan placement. The graphics card on that Dell gets too hot - the MSI card I suggested will be cooler.

        • -1

          @Lief1250:

You don't pirate windows, its free to download from the microsoft website…

          The key however…

  • Very good deal! If I didn't build my Ryzen 5 lately, I'll pull the trigger on this.

  • I heard AMD systems use more energy over Intel based systems especially the gpu can someone confirm or deny?

Day to day running costs is just as important as saving on initial product sales to me.

  • I guess a very 'noob' , I have ps4 pro, and the 4k xbox one . How does this compare to what I have ? ie. Could one say this is 2 times better or 150% better etc ??
I have a 4k tv, if that helps to reccomend or not reccomend this gaming pc.
Maybe 4k gaming would be much better with this 'gamimg pc' compared to on my ps4 pro ?

  • Better hurry guys…4 left in stock

    • +1

shows as more than 10 available now. I did notice last night was only showing as 7 in stock though.

      • They must have restocked ! Good news :)

  • Noob query. To upgrade the RAM, will any stick that corresponds with the included 8GB DDR4 2400MHz do the job? Or are there specific sticks / brands that I should be looking at?

    • Yeh same here..they didn’t list the brand of the RAM on eBay. I remember someone saying it’s better off get the same brand

      • +1

I have mixed ram brands before with the same speed/voltage/latency etc but I know it's not ideal.

  • I want to know the video ports… Where do I find that info?? How many HDMIs does it have… Or if it also has DVI or VGA… Someone help me please!! I'm ready to buy this lol

  • I thought the sweet spot for video editing is 32GB ram? Any thoughts on this please?

  • Has anyone received shipping notification yet…

    • Not yet, we are all waiting patiently. My order was paid on the 24th

      • Just got the notification..2 separate emails - one with the invoice one official ebay message.

One says exp delivery date 9/10 , one says 17/10 lol

  • well after 5 years with this pc i was about to build a ryzen. this is a good price, i cant build one cheaper.

    thanks op

  • +1

Nearly forgot about this deal. Just ordered. Even nicer as it's a combined Birthday/Christmas present from family and friends :)

  • Anyone got an update on delivery? It says will be delayed…

    • Got an email from Dell yesterday to say expected delivery is between 11th and 13th of October. Plus one from ebay saying 11th to 18th of October.

    • This dude on eBay replying me with useless information. Asked for how to track it because the reference number on eBay doesn’t give any update on the shipping

      • +2

got an sms saying delivery expected 2 Nov… pretty disappointing.

        • I got an estimated delivery of 2 Nov too. They haven't even started on the build when I checked the order status :(

I see that there is a request cancellation option and I am thinking about choosing it. I would need to find another gaming PC to buy though

        • @Pandamony:

There was a parts shortage and Mid-autumn festival …

I’m not canceling mine as this is a steal..gotta sit back and wait I guess

        • @sauce2k:
Just got sms saying shipped on 7 Oct new ETA 14 Oct

  • FYI mine was delivered on the 5th Oct (WA)
Vid card has 1 HDMI and 3 display port slots
