    What's frozen custard like?

    • +4

When you first have a taste, its just like ice cream, the more you eat, the more it tastes like custard, thats frozen lol

      • Weird.

I got a larger tub half price at the coles the other week. As someone who enjoys a good custard and used to drink it by the straw as a kid far too frequently i have to say this stuff is kinda crap. Only a hint of custard taste. Won't be buying again.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of ice cream and of custard.
The first spoonful or two of this it seems ok. After that it goes downhill fast.
I bought a tub of the stuff and couldn't finish it.

        • I was the opposite, didn't like it at first but after a while it grew on me.
I let it melt in the mouth, then it had that custard flavour and texture.

In saying that I wouldn't buy it again, if I want custard I'll buy custard.

classic is top tier. Chocolate is like REALLY creamy chocolate ice cream

    • +2

I don't rate it at all - tastes like bad vanilla ice cream and gets worse with chocolate topping.

    • What's frozen custard like?

      It's like custard but frozen.

Got a tub over the weekend at Woolies. Didn't like it at all and chucked the rest out.

    • +1

      It likes the cold.

not many upvotes yet, Queenslanders still asleep?

    Thanks. Grabbed a few tubs.

This stuff is bloody amazing. Even the Coles branded one. Certainly has the custard flavour.

I thought Ice Cream was frozen custard.

    • +2

I think the difference is that frozen custard needs to contain eggs whereas ice cream does not

    • No, they're pretty different foods.

Pretty average product.. would be better if they added some real vanilla bean. It doesn't really taste like custard either.

  • +1

Hmm, by the time I get back home, I'll have custard.

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag?

    • Nah, but sometimes I do drift through the wind and wish to start again :)

  • +1

They gave me a 24 pack of the single serving ones this morning (had to give it away since I had nowhere to keep it until I got home however)

  • Very disappointing, doesn’t taste like custard and is more just like cheep ice-cream but at a higher price (both classic and choc). Will stick to buying custard in those plastic 2ltr milk bottles.

  • I actually tried the choc one as my supermarket has sold out of vanilla and loved it.

I do hope I can get to this promo in time as I dont want to miss out like I did on the christmas pudding giveaway, and I am not pudding up with another deal lost.

  • These are tasty and creamy! Not custardy at all, and more ice creamy. Chocolate flavour is great. Although I have a feeling you would not want to eat too much - 1 tub is fine as it seems rich! Maybe it's the eggs. Anyhow lucky/unlucky me they were handing out boxes at 8am when I rode through this morning. This is Day 3 of handouts.

  • I can confirm this. Take as many cups as you like. But no boxes handed out.

Honestly I think the fuel to get there is about as much as its worth for about 20 tubs of that stuff. Really miserable job at portraying either ice cream or a custard. I'm still not certain which it is, half a tub in my freezer still and no one in the house wants it.
