Could have got another 20% off if purchased through eb games ebay store.

  • Could EB actually be cheaper than eBay sellers? Chargers are usually hella cheap

    Great price for trusted reseller.

I bought one of these a couple of months back. Great charger and it looks cool too. Controllers seem to charge pretty quickly as well.

Same. I knew the energizer recharge kits were highly regarded so was surprised to see it so cheap at EB. This time around i grabbed the PS4 Extra life one for ~$41 shipped.

They have external battery packs that add to the internal ones and allow for the same style of charging! Little but more expensive, but my wife has a problem with keeping the dualshocks charged so it's worth the money for me.

    eBay store sold out :(

  • $22.4 + $4.95 = $27.35 +CashBack but its sold out now.

  • Good concept but $28 buys a lot of regular batteries and they seems to last for yonks anyway. unless you're a really high volume player is this really necessary?

    • PS: note the same or similar unit was recalled earlier this year - melting controllers!

      • I did know that before the purchase. Apparently this is the new version with different lighting at the front of the charging dock. Cheers

        • Yep the new ones have an LED bar which lights up red when charging and green when charged.

    • I use turnigy aa batteries from hobbyking ……work great and are low self discharge.

    • unless you're a really high volume player is this really necessary?

My kid gets about 10 hours from a pair of AA Alkalines. He prefers those as they seem to last longer than the genuine Play and Charge (which is a single cell LiPo + a boost converter).

Eneloops etc are a fail in high drain devices like Xbox controllers, as they don't last long enough and the recharging is a major hassle for kids. They tend to just throw them away, which negates any potential savings.

I wish that they'd put LiFePO4 cells into game controllers, as they are much better than LiPos.

Thanks OP JUST bought one from store.

I had one of these (the older model without the screen) - the controllers constantly would not charge if they weren't exactly in on the cradle - you had to fiddle with it for ages to get the contacts to sit properly to start charging, really annoying i ended up not using it. Also the battery's cant be charged with a usb cable like the official ones - you have to use the cradle which is inconvenient if you want to use your controller whilst charging. They cannot be charged on their own without a spare controller either.

Not sure why people use things like this with an Xbox. AA rechargeables are much more convenient and cost effective.

Thanks OP bought one. My two boys can go through a $10 Bunnings AA Alkaline 30 pack in a month, especially with school holidays. I had bought them Eneloop rechargeable batteries but they couldn't be bothered taking them out and charging them, eventually ended up losing them in the process. So I'm hoping this can save me a bit of money in the long run.

    • Not a problem. Im sure they will love it as i moved from Eneloop to this. They charge very easily. And most inportant of all, it is looking good on my tv unit especially the elite controllers :)
