Is it a dupe if its highlighting the discount on a particular product?

      • +1

        Nope, apparently not. My mistake

  • -8

Just doesn't feel right spending nearly 1k on a phone when you can buy 100000000 eneloops…

the prices are going to drop anyways too…never buy a phone just after launch

    • +4

IPhone prices hardly ever drop until the next iteration is out. Best you can hope is these sorta 20% off eBay/mobileciti coupon deals

      • -5

You sure? But the next iphone will be released in about a years time…surely it would drop by a bit..the 2017 ipad could be bought for $370 already and the best time to buy it is when the iphone 9 is out.

        • +5

You are obviously not well versed in ApplEconomics.

        • @Daabido: Lol, who really knows?

  • +1

I don't think we need 2 threads for the same discount and/or items?

  • +2

    iPhone 8 in few days

iPhone 10 (or X) in Nov.

Seems like Apple is heading Android's way ?

    • In what way? :S

  • +2

Should note that it's from HK

    • +6

      Space-grey import.

      • I'm curious, how can you tell you have an imported IPhone? as opposed to the Aust Version?

  • -3

It's not really a deal when u can spend $20 more to quadruple the storage.

    • +6

think you confused this with the iphone 8 instead

      • -2

        quadruple is a quadruple. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ 🤷

        • This is an iPhone 8 Plus, you are referring to a deal for the non-plus model.

  • This is a good deal for an iPhone 8 Plus.

However, the iPhone 8 Plus itself is not a good deal.
Better to just get an 6S Plus, or an Android alternative…. just as good, if not better, for much much lower price.

      Glad an Ozbargainer remembered

  • Everyone is holding out for the X. The iPhone 8 or 7s is a fizzer. No real compelling reason to buy considering it looks the same as a 7. Bare in mind apples demographic audience is to the non technical so aesthetics mean more then specifications.

  • +1

What's the point of discounting iPhone 8 before release?
Thought retailers get really low margins 10%~
    Seems sus

    • +1

Means Kogan/DSE can hold your money and deliver in a few months time and/or whenever they feel like it.

      • Ye seems more like a preorder doubt they have stock already but possibly they might

      • Holding your money to deliver at a later date doesn't justify the lower profits.

    • I wonder about the unlocking fee too.

    • It's a grey import, no gst.

  • -1

Save your $3 on eneloops!!! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/330420
$979 for all three colours too!
might be cheaper here if you combine cashrewards

  • -1

Anyone know if I can claim TRS on this?

    • +1

Of course not. No GST is paid by Kogan.

    • You would need a receipt that has the GST component listed on it.

  • +1

    Don't forget the cashrewards 1.25% cash back, 982.4 x 1.25% = $12.28, which bring the price down to $ 970.12 :)

    • Updated price. Thanks!

The HK 8/8 plus now appears to be the same model as the AU model.

    • just means that warranty should apply locally here in AU =)

    • Yes, but whether Kogan/DSE is sending HK stock is yet to be confirmed as they also source their phones from other countries.

      • It does say on the eBay listing that it is being shipped from HK.

        You can also ask.

        • Shipped from HK does not mean HK stock as Kogan source their phones from other countries as well.

        • +1

@j1568: I'm almost certain DS will ship HK stock. Shopmonk are selling HK version so kinda gives you a hint this will be the case. All grey import from DS when they first started selling the new iPhone 7 (20% off) last year was HK version. This time round HK/AU version are the same so Apple here can service the 1 year warranty. Anyway all those who have purchased from DS shall find out soon, so no worries!

  • hi
what about the warranty for ipads?
i took a screenshot of the deal to officeworks to price match and they refused saying it was a grey import.

  • I would have thought everyone will be buying iPhone X instead of 8.

  • Just to point out.

According to my ebay based in Sydney

    Delivery:
Estimated between Tue. 31 Oct. and Tue. 21 Nov.

    • +1

edit: nvm it's already in the original post.

  • +1

Apparently DS have been sending out the Japanese model not the HK model

    • anybody had their phone shipped yet?

  • Tried to get at least a partial refund from them or an upsell to iPhone X with additional payment from my side. Here is their answer:

I am sorry to hear you are not satisfied with the model you received.

We do try to provide as much information in our product page as possible and we have listed the item as being an international model and we have provided you with an international model phone.

We are not able to list all the differences that exist between the phones as there are certain models that do and don't work in China as well but we make sure the phones at least work in Australia.

Different manufacturing policies apply in some countries which prevent muting the shutter sound for privacy reasons, and you may, therefore, receive a device with this slight restriction.

To overcome this, we suggest that you use the Live Photo mode which has a much quieter shutter sound.

As we have stated the item is an international model I, unfortunately, cannot arrange for the return of the device.
