My daughter is going to China soon and wondering if it is cheap and viable to buy an iPhone 8 whilst there. Does anyone have any experience with buying an iPhone in China and using it here in Aus. Thanks
Buying iPhone in China

correct. Chinese mainlanders actually smuggle apple stuff from HK and sell it to other mainlanders to make a quick buck whenever a new iphone comes. Then they set up street stalls like they sell food and sell tonnes of iphones in a single day before the authorities have time to crack down.

Starts at 5888rmb ($1120) which is $40 more than RRP here.
About $250 cheaper if you buy from Dick sale https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/330266
No just buy local. Its a mainlander joke that electronics cost more in China than they do in USA and Australia.
Buy it local take to china and claim trs
I visited the Apple store in Shanghai a few years ago and the prices there were certainly no cheaper than in Australia.
Thanks everyone for the great advice. Maybe just best to buy from Dick Smith at 20% off
this one is the new cheapest and yes https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/330420
Probably not, as I understand there is an Chinese import tax levied on these kind of things so the price on the mainland isn't that great.
Maybe Hong Kong?
