Kia $777 Gift Card for New Cars Purchased from Tomorrow

Signed a contract for a new Kia last Sunday to be delivered at the end of the month. Tonight on the TV they are advertising a $777 gift card for cars purchased this week.

Can anyone suggest if there is a way to get the $777 gift card from Kia?

How would you feel if the price went up? Would you mind if they demanded more money from you?

    • I realise that. Just a bit annoyed and trying to work out a way thats all.

      • Just ask them. Likelihood is no though so don't have your hopes up

Actually, as somebody who has recently signed a new car contract, the fine print says the dealer has the right to pass on up to 5% of the cost if the price goes up. Obviously this might be different for Kia contacts, but was the case for my car.

Sucks balls I know. I just asked for the clause to be removed as part of the special conditions

      • I'm well aware of the conditions ;) that clause is only really if your car is coming from the factory. RRPs don't change that often

Just read the terms, it's $777 against the RRP of the car. So it's not like you get $777 cash (well sorta but it's a discount).

Now the big question, did you negotiate a discount or did you pay retail?

    • Interesting the terms. It is certainly all in marketing. I have learnt something tonight!

      I did negotiate a discount.

      Thanks Spackbace.

      • All good :) don't stress, and enjoy the new car, even if it is a kia :P

        • LOL. We recently won a VW polo alltrack in a recent competition and will be selling it and buying the Kia with hopefully $15K to go to Africa!

Oh yeah that was you :)

          Nice plan!

You know you're buying a quality car, when they throw in gimmicks like this to sell them.

    • +1

Name a (non prestige) manufacturer that doesn't have sales.

      • There is a difference between a sale and a gimmick

        • +2

Right, so name a (non prestige) manufacturer that doesn't have sales. gimmicks

@Spackbace: I don't know, I only buy good cars. My point is that you should buy a car based only the quality of the product, not some cheap sales gimmick.

          @Burnertoasty:

Oh ok, must be Ferrari or Lamborghini then, everyone else runs discounts, finance deals, 'clearance' sales, etc etc. They're all the same, and being a brand snob isn't going to change that, though being educated on the brands you like might actually change that opinion.

@Spackbace: Any money says that toasty drives a 2006 Holden Calais or 260,000km HSV that has a self imposed value way way in excess of what it's true value is. It's going to be a collector car!

And I don't know of any vehicle manufacturer that doesn't offer some incentives to move stock. Having worked for a lot of prestige brands, I can assure you that they all run "gimmicks" as well to sell units.

          I love brand snobs.

        • @pegaxs:

Nah, thorton82 has something Euro, you know from 1 of those manufacturers that offers 'gimmicky' low-finance sales and crap like that :)

Burntoasty is more of a Tesla guy I reckon….

        • @Burnertoasty:

IIRC Kia has been listed as one of the more reliable car manufacturers recently in the US.

Nah. It smacks of BMW toolery. It's hard to find much difference between HSV and BMW owners…

@Jawanzar: Kia are also all pieces of shit. Buying a Kia is like putting your hand up in life and saying, yep, I've failed. Give me the Kia.

And 7 year warranty, you can't go wrong….

        • @Burnertoasty:

So, would you then make an evaluation or a determination about a person and their abilities/traits/success based on the car that they drive? I.E; 'this person can't be OK he is driving a KIA, this person must be OK he's driving X brand?' If so, what brand would make a person OK or you'd say has not failed in life?

        • -1

@Jawanzar: Basically anything not made in Korea or China.

        • @Jawanzar:
          Porsche Cayman GT4?

        • Plot twist… Toasty boy drives a "Euro" car "because"… but doesn't know it's made in India/South Africa/Thailand/Spain/Any country that isn't the country they think it's from… :D

Please Toasty, tell us what you drive and what you consider to be the pinnacle of automotive excellence. I'm dieing to hear what you consider to be the best. We know it isn't Kia/Tesla/second hand BMW X5's…
