Recommend Me a Low Cost Phone Plan (Pre or Post-Paid)

I'm currently subscribed to TPG's VM4 plan bundled with my internet, which gives me $550 worth of calls and 1.5GB of data for $16.99 per month. I rarely use the entire data package (only time I ever came close was when my home internet screwed up for a week or so!), have never breached the call cap and don't make international calls on the phone either, so it's fair to say I'm a very low-end user!

I've had a look at a few different providers though and it seems like there's a number of similar alternatives that offer the same deal for less (e.g. Bendigo Bank Telco or OVO), or more data for a similar or slightly higher price (e.g. Aldi).

Are there any especially good deals I should be checking out at the moment? Or should I just stick with TPG for the time being?

The Mobile Plans deal page which can usually be accessed by hovering mouse cursor over "Pages" on the top, shows you a list of mobile plan deals listed in order of + votes.

Try it out. I personally recommend Kogan though the catch is you have to buy 12 months worth in one go, but it's a big saving over other plans.

    Their plans are:

    SMALL PLAN $10.90 a month / 1.5GB ($132.59 upfront, Was $179.90)
    MEDIUM PLAN $16.90 a month / 6GB ($205.58 upfront, Was $299.90)

    • Oh that's a cracker of a deal for 6GB - I'll try and grab that! I see it's going to expire on 18 Sept so thanks for the timely heads up!

Also, can I port a number with that deal or do I have to get a new one? All good, you can port

      • You can also get it cheaper if you buy discounted Kogan gift cards. Most people bought them from Woolies for a 10 percent discount, but that's gone now.

        Discussions are on that page.

        • Bugger, I just bought the bundle. But still it's a pretty excellent deal for the amount of data being offered (even though it's Vodafail)

  • whistleout.com.au is a good site for comparing.

Bear in mind that Kogan uses Vodafone.

    • That's a good site, thanks for that. I think TPG switched to the Vodafone network last year so as long as Kogan is no worse than their service (it's acceptable enough) then I'll be happy
