New Microsoft Surface Pro - any bargain?

Hi guys,
Looking to buy the new surface pro for uni. Just want to ask if 4gb ram is enough for tasks like note taking, excel, word and browsing.
Also any bargains or deals for them currently??

    Looking on gumtree and there are some pretty good deals for both used and sealed with receipts.
    Should i look out for particularly anything when buying on gumtree or upon inspection of the device?
