60

Was looking at DashCams and my friend recommended the Xiaomi Mijia.
A big upgrade from the Yi dashcam.

Language is Chinese only, not sure if it can be translated to English.

Sample videos and a comparison with the Yi Dashcam vs Xiaomi Mijia below:

    ● Gravity sensor keeps the video not covered in case of an emergency

    What does that mean?

    • +1

It likely means it has an accelerometer that can sense a collision and stop it from overwriting the video.

        It specifically says "Gravity"

        • It's obviously an error in translation. As FuRyZ said, it likely means accelerometer.

        • If the car was flying off the edge of a cliff, it's safe to assume that would be considered an "emergency", in which case the "gravity" sensor comes into its own.

        • @CamM:

          Good to know.

It's obviously an error in translation.

In which language is the word for gravity the same as the word for acceleration?

Some mutation of the babel fish 🐟 has occurred

          @jv:
Never said gravity is the same word as acceleration, but I implied accelerometer must have falsely translated to "gravity sensor". Einstein's "equivalence principle" says that gravity and acceleration are indistinguishable. So, going back, a "gravity sensor" detects the same things as an accelerometer. I don't see how this is even difficult to comprehend that this was simply an error in translation.

        • @Seismic:

          gravity and acceleration are indistinguishable

He was wrong… Don't take everything Einstein said as gospel. Remember, he didn't have Google at that time so had to make stuff up.

          Ok thanks

Mildly intelligent people understand the problems with transliteration.

Trolls, on the other hand, either just want to troll, or lack the intelligence to understand.

  • Upgraded to English? Heh

  • Does it use rechargeable lithium battery or Capacitor?

    • +1

      Built-in 240 mAh battery

      has Parking Monitor function

      • Can anyone confirm that it really has parking monitor function? I couldn't find any review or comments about parking monitor on Mijia.

My original xaoimi has been sitting in QLD sun since they were released ~2 years. No problems. I will upgrade to 4K before it dies.

  • Not sure about this being a "big upgrade from the Yi dashcam". It actually has lower hardware specs in terms of resolution and software features like ADAS. Note: there is a lower priced black Yi dashcam without these features.

    • Especially considering they're both manufactured by different companies.
