So the Translink website states you can use international cards at Qld Rail fare machines and kiosks but not for auto top up. I just tried to use a fare machine to top up with an Amex and it declined.
Anyone been able to top up with an Amex at a fare machine? Seems misleading on their website.

But I live here
You said it was international though ?
If you've gotten it through Amex AU it's an Australian card….
Is your Amex card Aussie issued or Overseas issued?
I would assume 'international card' = overseas card, eg. a CC an international student might use.
If it's ANZ issued for example, that's not a international card (unless NZ).
I assume it's international issued. It isn't linked to any australian bank just a straight up Amex
If it's issued by Amex Australia and not Amex US/China/etc, then it's not international issued.
Personally I consider my Amex to be Australian issued, I don't pay international transaction fees when I buy something at Woolworths International cards would be for overseas visitors.
Maybe it's like the Opal machines in Sydney where they only accept Visa or MasterCard (or EFTPOS) and by international, they mean Visa or MasterCard cards issued overseas
What was the response code? Otherwise call them and ask why it declined (Translink or your card issuer).
I didn't think TransLink took Amex.

"International cards" does not necessarily mean Amex, just cards issued by overseas banks etc.
I've never tried but I assume you can't topup using Amex. Go to 7-11 for that.
Well I initially asked Translink if you could use an Amex and they said yes at the fare machines you could but not auto top up- So when it didn't work I asked them again and they are now like "We cannot provide a clear answer for you"……uhhhh what? …..its already too hard, so ill sacrifice the points :P
Have you used your card in Australia/overseas before ? Sometimes you need to call the issuer and tell them you're overseas
