Hi all,
My PS4 recently began not being able to produce a clear signal on my TV and having a look at the port it was clearly bent and not in the best condition. I chose to get it repaired at Global Consoles in Dandenong. On their website, they quoted $45 for a minor HDMI repair, $65 to replace the HDMI port and $144 for a 'major mainboard repair and HDMI fix'. I rang them up and explained the issues and they said it would be $65, without mentioning the $144 option. After it got sent in, I received an email say ing it was $144. Today, I rang up again today to speak to their technician and he 'explained' the issue. He said that the 'HDMI management microchip' had a fault and would need to be repaired for me to be able to get a display. The other options was for them to send it back for $40 or for them to replace the HDMI port for $65 but they said it wouldn't fix the issue.
If I can guarantee that there is a major fault in the HDMI port such as a broken IC chip (I think) I would be happy to pay the $144 however the fact that they wouldn't tell me the exact fault of the issue makes me think that they are trying to pressure me into paying the full amount.
Has anyone had any experience with this sort of issue or any issues with Global Consoles? Thanks
You could ask them to send you the dead chip so you know they aren't ripping you off. It's not really their fault that they looked into your PS4 and found another problem. It does sound unlucky (and possibly unlikely/fishy)
