Cheap Calls to a Philippines Mobile

Hi all,

I call Philipines mobiles daily. I used to use the Global Call app but I haven't been able to install this on my new mobile phone (keeps crasking).

Global call used to charge ~13c/min USD. Are there better ways to call internationally?
Is it worth getting one of those Lebara sims?

Appreciate to hear advice for anyone in the same situation.

      Thought Skype is cheaper but looks like it costs the same as having Telstra simplicity

    If you calling the same number each day subscribe to Globe Duo. (Inbound call needs to be a Globe Sim).

    Whatsapp/viber free etc is not really an option as the 3G signal over there is very weak.

    Yes I am calling the same number most days. I have never heard of Globe Duo. I'll research it. do both parties need to subscribe? IE do i need to bring a globe sim back with me next time i am there? I only have 1 handset so its a bit of a pain if so. I saw heaps of ads for Lebara but dismissed it because of the 2nd sim also.

    I downloaded an app called Libon - 1000 minutes for $25. I've used about an hour of credit and so far, seems to be working well. (~0.02c/min)

      Globe Dou assigns an Australian landline number to their Globe number. So you just call the Australian landline number and it will divert to the Globe number. Calls are limited to 60 minutes but you can redial straight away. You can try it for $U4 for 7 days.

    So I have been using Libon, around $25AUD buys 1000 hours.

    Just transferred my phone to prepaid boost. On some plans, unlimited calls to the philippines! bargain! Im on the $200/year plan, still cheaper than what I was paying before and getting more data too.
