Are there any companies that make Android smartphones that size anymore… about 4 inches??
Trying to buy a new phone for my mum, who uses a mobile for what it was made - to make phone calls !
But I would like to buy her a smartphone this time and get her to start using apps like WhatsApp, where the whole family can stay in touch, or make video calls….
So any Sonys/Motos/HTCs/Samsungs which might fit the bill, please suggest.
Can spend upto $300. Prefer a dual-SIM phone.

No, android is just as easy, and you can hide lots of app so they only see the home screen.
My 82 yo dad has no trouble using a Samsung s4.
Don't be so scared of bigger than 4 inches, show your mum how good photos look with a bigger screen.
And I remember my old Sony Z was 5 inch but physically the same size ( or close) to a 3.5 inch iPhone.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact is about as high-end as it goes when it comes to the "mini" phones.
What about a used Sony Z3 Compact, that should still be fast (as fast as any Cortex A53 phone)… and it would be in your budget.
It would probably still have a better screen, camera, software, accessories… than what you will find on a new mini budget phone.

Yeah, the Sony Z3 Compact (32GB) was over $800 when it lunched.
You could get a good condition used one around $200 now, so they're definitely below your $300 limit.
Not to mention lots of community support, and accessories for it.
The Z5 Compact is newer, but its not really better.
The Xperia X Compact is newer-er, and slightly better, but out of budget at around $450 street price.
The newly announced SONY XZ1 would be waaay to expensive at around $800 retail.

In general, when I'm looking for granny phones like this, I tend to check out what Coles/Woolies have. There might well be something under $99, though even they are going towards 5" phones.
