Looking for 13.3"-14" Gaming Laptop (~$2k AUD)

Hey there. Looking for a good deal for 13,3-14" gaming laptop. Right now what I've thinking of are gigabyte i7 laptops but 1050ti version is for 1,9k aud and 1060 6gb is 2,5k AUD.
What would you recommend?
I would like:
13,3-14"
Better screen than 1080p
256gb+ SSD or ssd/hdd combo

Budget is flexible, if there's good value to it.
Laptop to be used for everyday browsing, movies, a bit of gaming and photo edit.

    There's also Metabox P641HK — 14" i7-7700HQ, 8GB/256GB, GTX1050ti & 2kg. Currently $1559 from Affordable Laptop (without the OS).

It's a nice build and would be great, but I would like a higher resolution screen than 1080p.

Higher resolution screen than 1080p on a small 14" screen makes no sense.

          I disagree.
I like these high-density displays on my phone (>300ppi/Retina etc etc). I can also tell the difference on laptops.

While I agree 4K scales very badly on 10"-15" laptops, well because, Windows still sucks in that aspect.
I think something higher like 1440p or 1800p does feel good.
It can allow you to have more things visible in your Internet browser without jarring or pixelation.
Not to mention video games when sitting so close to the screen.

I do think that taking the half-measure of 1440p has its drawbacks of not displaying 4K on-screen.
However, I don't think it will be pleasant user experience until Microsoft works out the issues with Windows…which might take another 5 or so years…

@OP: Do you play video games on the laptop outside of the house?

        • @Kangal:
Hey. I don't believe i would use it for gaming out of house. Thanks for the reply.
There is certainly a difference between 1080p and higher resolution, starting from 13" screens. Anyone starting otherwise should go check screens next to each other. Yes it is not huge difference, but it's difference for next 3+ years.

        • @ken051:
I would say, save your money.
Get a decent ultrabook used/new $800-$1,200 for regular stuff outside the house.
Then get a desktop pc for playing video games inside the house.

Laptops with dedicatedGPU's are still not worth it, for the trade-offs of larger thickness, higher weight, less battery life, more heat, increased fan noise, etc etc. Intel's embedded/integratedGPU's are good enough for most tasks and they're easy on battery life.

Besides, if you get a Gaming Laptop you will be stuck with that performance for the next 3+ years.
If you split the Gaming from the Laptop, you could potentially have a great desktop… with the freedom and choice to simply swap the GPU as you see fit.

Overall, a Gaming PC + Ultrabook usually works out to be cheaper than a comparable Gaming Laptop too.
Not 100% certain now because of the mining boom, but that's been the case for the last forever.

@ken051: Every ones vision is different, and so their experience will be different. Yes, I checked many screens next to each other. Additionally I am also fully aware of technical compromises: scaling issues (Win and applications), increased heat and noise emissions, decreased battery life, higher price, among others.

Read reviews: something's gotta give. Happy with the balance, and fully aware of what you are gaining and what you are loosing? Go for it. (BTW, higher resolution in mobile phones is very different, not necessarily relevant topic).

Some models with 14" 2560x1440 screens (different panel technologies, different price ranges):
          Aorus X3 Plus X3
          Gigabyte Aero 14
          Alienware 13
          various Lenovo ThinkPads
          various HP EliteBook 1040
          …and more.

    Unfortunately 15.6" and 1080p but GTX 1060 for $1899 - 20% = $1520 AUD free shipping.

Imho finding a good deal on what you are looking for has been hard for me as those specifications are ideal for me too.

GTX 1060 can easily play some games at 1440p and others at 4k with settings down mainly "e-sport" games and less intensive smaller games.

I think I found a GTX 1080 with 4k screen for like $4.5k AUD once but can't find it now and was probably 15.6".

Try /r/suggestalaptop for more specific items. Might get a winner.
