Best Android TV Box under $150

Hi guys,

I keep changing my mind about my future Android box since i got confused everytime I read the reviews.

Here are what I'm looking for on my android tv box:

  • KODI full version (17.3 I think?) compatible
  • Being able to get the Stremio App
  • Having all sports channel live (IPTV stalker I heard?) compatible, and all others channels why not
  • Being able to cast my phones (iOS and android) on the TV
  • Being able to download/install FOXTELGO APP
  • Pairing couple of remote to play android multiplayer games like Badlands
  • The device will be connected by WiFi only

My budget is max $150, what do you reckon?

  • For your budget the best is the Xiaomi Mi Box 3. I had one for a while before uprading to an Nvidia Shield.

  • What do you think about the Beelink GT1 Ultimate I can find around $90?
If you look at the hardware part, it's better than the Mi box 3

    Mod: Fixed link and added.

    • I have that but it doesn't have Android 7.1. How do I update? Mine currently freezes some days, works perfectly fine others.

  • +3

There are two types of boxes out there - boxes which run Android TV, which is an actual operating system developed by Google. It's a good platform but doesn't have many apps (https://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/promotion_3000…).

The other media boxes are running old versions Android - same opoerating system version as phones and tablets. If you get one of those then you can run most Android apps (thousands out there) but the interface might be a bit messy.

  • Just received my Beelink GT1 Ultimate, we'll see how it goes.
But any recommandations for other people reading that thread?

    • How are you finding the Beelink so far?

Please tell me it's good so I don't waste too much money on an NVIDIA shield TV. =)

Could you install Netflix, and does Netflix do 1080p or better?

      • Not sure if i'm happy or not.
Since netflix doesnt work, foxtel go either.. Only because it's Android TV OS.

I have to spend some time and put an Android phone OS on it to be able to use all the capacity of that machine :)
