Watching iPad Mini on non-smart TV

Our LG non-smart TV can't watch Channel 9. Had checked various methods but it seems it's a problem for that model. Other than that the TV is perfect. We don't have any budget for a new TV now because we have to do bathroom Reno……

So I'd like to cast from my iPad Mini to the TV, to watch 9Now, YouTube, IView or SBS on Demand. We don't want to buy Apple TV either….

It seems I can spend $70 odd for a "cable", "adapter". But being a true OzBargainer, just wondering whether there's a cheaper way?

    Google Chromecast - cheapest and easiest for you. Just needs a wifi network to connect to, uses your iPad or phone as a remote control. Plenty of information on this site about how to use it.

      Sorry I thought Chromecast only works for Android? I didn't know I can use it for iPad…. Will check thanks.

        If the app supports it, check if the Nine app does.

        I use my iphone to control it. I set up my mum at home with her ipad to run their chromecast as well. All the apps you mentioned support it - google are smart enough not to abandon the millions of Apple users.

          is there a way to run Kodi thru a jailbreak on an ipad casting to chromecast? I cant figure this one out

          @sydsm: I've only used Kodi on my android devices so haven't investigated this however this website states you could load it onto an iPad without jailbreaking - use at your own risk, not sure if chromecast functionality would work or not, might need to just mirror the screen instead with a cable.

      Find a cheap Miracast on eBay that supports whatever the locked down protocol is that Apple uses. Apple Play or Air Play or iPlay.

    We don't want to buy Apple TV either….

    Why? You could probably get a Gen 3 for <100

    Only option I can think of is a hdmi cable + hdmi to lightning adapter

    What is on Chanel 9 that you want to watch ?
