PayPal Siding with Seller of Fake Counterfeit Items

bought an item from a eastern European country off ebay turned out to be a Chinese fake, after opening a case was instructed by paypal to send the fake item back (which is illegal) out of my pocket and trust someone who they agreed sold me a fake item that they received it back so I can get a refund. talk about throwing good money after bad.

they admitted to me it was a fake and still they side with the seller.

not here to gripe, here to let people know that paypal are not to be trusted if you have been ripped off, so quadruple check sellers and items from over seas and then check again as you are not covered by paypal.

the whole point of this post is be very careful about buying on ebay overseas with paypal.

paypal is not your friend.

  • When you're buying something outside of the bricks and mortar store, there is always a risk (look at the Bose QC35 thread). Plus if the price is too good to be true…unless you have money to burn, go ahead and 'try', otherwise, just skip.

  • price was not low, will check out the Bose QC35 thread thanks!!

  • my item was 160 $ and from Bulgaria so would cost me 60$ to send back and then there's no guarantee paypal will refund going on the way they have treated me thus far.

anyway just throwing this out there DONT TRUST PAYPAL !!!

Nah I reckon there's something you're not telling us. You either f'ed up the process and didn't follow the process to the bone, or you got tricked by the seller to do something like send it to an address not registered with Paypal.

Paypal don't care if you plead, they only care about their policy.

    • they only care about their policy

Here was me thinking they only care about making money, I stand corrected, it's the policy. That's the only thing!

Why'd you buy from Bulgaria? Didn't that raise alarms?

    • Maybe OP was after an alarm.

they admitted to me it was a fake and still they side with the seller.

paypal technically didn't admit to the item being a counterfeit. they were never in a position check the item's authenticity.

the buyer opens a snad and is then required to follow the procedure to support their claim. did you follow the procedure and provide paypal what they asked for?

do you guys work for PayPal?

    was I not explaining myself?

I bought a fake item (didn't know till I got it in my hands) advised PayPal they said send it back at my cost $50 to get my $160 back, i said now why would i trust someone who on purpose deceived me? and waste 50 more of my dollars to send a fake item back to a untrustworthy seller?

they said that's the rules, i said its illegal to send counterfeit items via Australia post they said they don't care, i said you side with a thief therefore you stole my money and then the woman hung up on me.

hey think you are protected as a buyer via PayPal think again or not i don't care but my goal is only to bring some light in to the monopoly that rules on who gets what even if deception is ok in PayPal's world, it isn't in mine.

so continue to use PayPal but when you get burnt don't say you were not warned.

    • Report them to Consumer Affairs.

    • we understand that you're frustrated with this dispute, but your mild lash out isn't going to help.

it would be easier for us to provide you suggestions if you cared to answer some of the questions above.

    • So, you intend to keep the counterfeit item and want your money back too?

ohhh no not another dumb buying decision being blamed in paypal.

MMM ….interesting situation, I have taken note.
I purchase many items on AliExpress, and out of several hundred transactions from very small to around $300 I have only had a handfull of lost or a faulty …I all instances I was refunded in 1-7 days, with no grief as yet. Hope PayPal sorts this out for you.

for your information the item doesn't work and has been destroyed, and its now my mission to stop any more of these being sold on ebay as the real deal ever..

they will lose more money than they gained harbouring criminals..

pissed off the wrong person :)

damn straight going all Jason on their asses :)

    • its now my mission to stop any more of these being sold on ebay

But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired from buying quite a few things on eBay. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you refund my item now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will not buy from you again.

  • what did you buy? do you have a link to the item?

    • OP, I am sorry for your loss but perhaps calm down and reflect because imho you have made some basic errors on your part.

Why did you buy from a seller with 16 prior sales and only 85% favorable rating from bulgaria of all the places??? Thats like saying hit me please!!

Why did you scream at the paypal person? He/she is just following procedure. Its not their fault and do not deserve to be abused by you. I am not surprised they hung up on you.

Shit happens. Thats life but try not to dig holes for yourself.

The guy had 13 feedback at time of purchase, and you were buying from Bulgaria of all places?

Bloody hell, how many red flags do you need?

  • +1

OP says it was "Fake Counterfeit"

    Thus genuine?
