FWIW I use series 1 in shower, bath, pool, surf all day every day for over 2 years and it hasn't had a single issue. Series 1 are much more waterproof than Apple ever let on - watch the YouTube clips where they put them underwater for hours at a time.
So what? It's still not certified for water. Even the series 2 is just water resistant.
i got a series 1 SS for $180 on ebay, used it for a month, sold it for $250, its a toy not a watch.

i used it for a month while my mechanical watch was being serviced, after 3 weeks, it was just meh, another watch that i need to charge.

Good for fitness tracking and notifications without pulling phone out.
Good for checking the time and weather from main watch face.
Don't use apps or anything like that.
Charge it overnight next to my bed.
Hang on for series 3, But I'd avoid the series 1 at all costs. Waterproof being a big plus on the series 2. Hopefully with the release of the new one and an ebay sale, WE could get one at a good price :)
