I was going to mention the Roland/Boss app is free; and probably many others too.
Similar to you though, not sure on how the accuracy compares.
Surprised hardly any reviews/ratings for the app, at least in the Australian store.

I got one the last them they were around this price a couple of months ago. Worth getting at the price. Elsewhere they are $25 and up.
A good thing about this one is it can generate a tone. I prefer tuning to a reference tone rather than by the needle output. I've tried all sorts of tuners over the years but to my ears, I get a better result on guitar and bass when I tune to a reference tone and eliminate the 'beats'.
For accuracy, your phone undoubtedly has better tech, and the app will be cheaper. However this tuner also has a 1/4 inch phono (big headphone plug) input so you can plug your guitar or bass in if there is lots of noise around. Can't do that on your phone.
clip on tuners are better :)

I got an email today saying they've run out.
Yeah, I contacted them after that post, they said stock arrived at warehouse and would ship in 1 to 2 days.
It didn't so contacted again couple of days ago, said they would check on it, then finally received a cancellation notice today.
Saw that one coming though since product page was gone yesterday.
Not sure re accuracy compared to this one, but I just use a tuning app on my phone now…saves carrying around another device…
