Good Preferably 2 in 1 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

So in the the market for a cordless vacuum cleaner preferably 2 in 1 so stick and handheld for small rooms and the rest of the house.

Any recommendations or warnings of going 2 in 1. What's the best setup to go for: a 2 in 1, separate stick and handheld, etc cordless or corded.

Won't be using it for a car or anything I just assumed handhelds might be better for problem areas as well as chairs, window sills, kitchen surfaces, quick spills in a small room or a bed room and maybe on bedding and tight spaces etc.

Current vacuum is a pos so definitely need to buy a new one within the next week or so (or never).

Post recommendations.

Lots of whirlpool and Ozbargain research points to Dyson or black and Decker or a Milwaukee one.

Amazon seems to like the dirt devil and a few others but can't find same model here and no mentions in Australia. Don't wanna buy even though they ship to here because US to AU plugs are always a hassle and shipping kills it.

So I come to my trustworthy Ozbargainer's for help in a time of cleaning need.

If it's any consolation I will be most likely in the near future purchasing a Xiaomi robotic vacuum for the main areas unless some magical new competitor appears which is highly unlikely.

So to wrap it off 2 in 1 cordless yay or nay, if so or if not which ones and why.

Thank you.

If the answer really is Dyson then crap gotta save up some more for that luxury item.

Peace.

  • I'm also very interested in this topic.

I've seen the VAX Blade cordless On Kogan and at the good guys.

Looks to be a Dyson v8 competitor for around $250, but I don't know if it's any good.

  • +1

We've got a Dyson V6 Animal that we've used pretty much every day for the last 2 years (we have 3 kids….).

Can't fault it. If it ever craps itself we wouldn't hesitate in buying another straight away.

We also have a Dyson DC54 corded vacuum that we bought before the V6. While it is good we haven't really used it much since we got the stick.

It's funny…. some people recommend handheld vacuums for cars but I much prefer to use the full-size due to the flexible hose.

    Get a Dyson V6, V7 or V8… you won't regret it.

    • Good for low pile carpet?

  • I like the dyson style. Ours works well. Nice and light, easy to pop the extension on/off to use as a hand held. We have almost exclusively used it in the living areas since purchasing, saving the barrel vac (also dyson) for the carpeted bedroom areas - saves taking the big sucker down the stairs for 10min work.

I have also briefly used a Hoover cordless where the vacuum is mounted near the foot and you put a long handle on it for floor duties. Not a fan of that style because of the extra weight being pushed around at floor level on the end of a 'wobbly stick'. IT was much less balanced than the dyson.

  • I have a dyson dc44. its quite good after 4 yrs. I would says its value for money.

  • Verdict seems to be so far mainly Dyson but then I read about other Ozbargainer's in other threads recommending Miele for long term reliability in the double digit range.

    So now am confused.

Really want to get a Dyson as it does sound like it is the best but was still wondering if there were any other solid recommendations for especially carpet and maybe a small but messy vinyl kitchen floor.

No hardwood floors and most likely won't use it anywhere near or in the bathroom.

So mainly just low pile carpet for ground floor and a bit of high pile carpet for upstairs.

I guess stairs is also a bit of high pile carpet.

    • Don't think any cordless vacuum will work well with high pile carpet.

My V6 is hopeless, the rotator bar stops spinning as it doesn't have enough power, even on Max.

Great on hard floors and loop pile though.

      • What are your thoughts on Miele.

If money is no consideration then Dyson, Miele or otherwise for 80% low pile carpet (ground floor) and 15% medium to high pile carpet (upstairs attic) and 5% vinyl (dirty sticky kitchen).

Probably will go for a Dyson V6 or V8 for the low pile as it really need some deep cleaning but if another model or brand can do all of them much better I'll take that.

        • Can't help with Miele as I've never used one but they seem to get good reviews.

There's also a Bosch that's supposedly fairly good.

What I don't like about the V6 is mainly emptying the canister as it gets clogged easily and is a pain.

I'd still buy it again as I'm overall happy with it, but my place is small and is mainly hard floors and low pile carpet.

If money isn't an issue I'd go for the V8 as emptying that is much easier, or read up on Miele and Bosch.

        • @Scab: cheers thanks will do. It's a bummer though no one is really reviewing the cheaper brands and models. Was hoping to score a deal on something good and worthy below $200.

  • Dyson V6 or V8 series vacuums are the best 2 in 1 vacuum categories in my opinion.

    • Is it good for low pile carpet?

      • If it is your first time dyson purchase, then you will be very surprised with the Dyson vacuum performance. Yes it is more than good enough.

        • Only reason I ask is because some people have said the vacuum is not the best on carpet and the motorized brush tool sometimes gets stuck or doesn't move unlike on hardwood floors or other more flatter floors.

        • I never had any issues with my Dyson V6 absolute and animals.

Decision is yours but once you start using Dyson vacuum, you will never look back. Thats my experience.

          Good luck.

        • @ozizoy: so confused. Some say Dyson some say Miele and others say what does the Fox say.
