SD Card Won't Mount?

So my Sdcard started to strangely unmount randomly and now doesn't mount at all. Sd works fine in other devices. So I tried taking phone back cover off and pressing down on SD. It then mounts, so suspect the metal contact pins have become fatigued. Unscrewed phone and saw I'd have to unsolder a fair bit of metal cover to get at the pins. Anyone know of any easy way to do it. Ie push a pin in somewhere etc. I tried bending the metal jacket around the sd, but wasn't enough. Also, Just out of warranty..of course.

  • buy a new one and transfer data across?!

  • Take it to a phone repair shop or really any repair shop that looks like it might have a soldering iron and explain your case/predicament and haggle like an Indian Chinese Jewish person.

  • Insert SD card in slot on phone, place a piece material (cardboard?) around the the same size as card on top of cards slot and carefully close phone. This might press the card down on to the contacts.

After putting on some sweet Barry White tunes, haggled with it and then tongue punched it in the fart box I discovered there is a crack in a solder joint below the SD card mount. So I'll have a crack at soldering it after work. Thanks all!

See you can't just shove it in, things break if you do that! Have to ease it in

    • So you're not going with the double teaming suggestion by rover then?
