Gold Coast Theme Park

Hi my girl friend and I are at our 20s, want to go theme park in Gold Coast , either dream world or movie world. We both are NOT a fan of rides. Which one should we go? What is the best deal for the admission free? Entertainment book? RACQ? Or any others?

  • If you are not a fan of rides go to Sea World. Groupon has some sort of discount for it atm.

  • When I went two years ago, one of the Groupon type sites had a deal - roughly $100 per person for unlimited entry to Sea World, Movie World and Wet n Wild. Worked a treat.

If you go to Dreamworld stay away from the River Rapids Ride!!

Check out the 3 park super pass

    • I thought they closed RR permanently?

If you don't like rides then I would recommend movie world. They have a lot of shows on with singing and dancing as well as the parade of all the costumed actors who work there. They have the stunt car driving show and also have themed events on at specific times but I think you need to purchase a special ticket for that (E.g. Halloween)

  • I just recently purchased the following from Groupon, I don't know if it's still available. $99 (minus) 10% via Code (minus) Cash rewards discount: for a 1 year pass, unlimited entry to Movie World, Sea World and the other no name worlds for 1 year and unlimited digital photos for rides. There was also an $89 option for the same thing excluding the digital photos. To put it in perspective a single entry to movie world is $75.

If you have time, go see a tour information booth at Surfers Paradise district area. I was offered $50 for 2 x weekly pass. The catch is that you have to attend a Wyndham seminar (timeshare). You are not obliged to purchase any of their services but you are required to attend and sit through their sales pitch, and could go up to 2-3 hours. My girlfriend and I also received free breakfast on that morning.

    • Yep, I did the same last year. They have some agressive selling tactics.

      • Haha nah, they weren't aggressive at all. Quite friendly and open about being there just for the discounted tickets. Not like I could afford their services anyway.

  • As a local, I would choose Sea World over the other two. Still some rides like the mono rail and cable car are ok to do if you are not a fan of action rides.
If it has to be from your choice then Movie World.

  • At the moment, Movie World currently has special Halloween theme called 'Fright Nights' in October and the tickets are being sold at a discount on Groupon. This event is held annually and it might be fun for you two to check it out.
