These dont require WIFI or the hub but do require 3 batteries to power. They are pretty simple and may be used to auto turn on a soft yellow night light so you can wonder around the house at night. THere is another version with in an inbuilt battery which requires charging every 3 months for a few dollars less. Personally i prefer to the batteries required version (this one) as it provides a good home for your eneloops, and these dont require removal of the device to charge.

I dont now whether these are water proof.

not just another but newer version than this

Newer is just a label, the only real difference between the two is the power source, inbuilt vs rechargable. Take away the newer label and they are the same, well except the newer model as a hook for easy hanging.

      • Can you link to that model?

        • @ninetyNineCents: Didn't you say it's a few dollars less? This is about double the price.

        • @lostn:

I just picked a random seller to get the description. To get th ebest deal you will need to look around.

I stand corrected the battery required has slightly less lumens 3.8 vs 6 for the battery included version.

Looking at the pictures, the light source also seems to be completely different, with the new one being front emitting and the old one a ring around the edge?

    • Link for the newer model?

  • I dont now whether these are water proof.

It says under Highlights that it's for indoor use, not waterproof.
Might pick one up to try out.

  • Anyone know how's long they stay light for? Can the timeframe be adjusted? Would be great in the bathroom for nocturia. But want to make sure I don't get left in the dark mid-stream.

    • 15 seconds. Had a quick look the other day to see if it the timer could adjusted as I had the same question but couldn't find anything. Assuming most people just wiggle a body part after it goes off to turn it back on!

    • There are no switches or connectivity which would allow an app to change settings. It pretty much stays on while it senses a person and turns off after a few seconds which gives you enough time to "walk away".

      • So providing you are within the proximity of the sensor, does it still stay on without any movement?

        • i just set mine up yesterday and it stays on while your in the zone.

        • @ninetyNineCents:
Thanks ninetyNineCents. Think that's a vital piece of info to know and helps justify the cost over a cheaper and traditional "motion sensing" light.

        • @ninetyNineCents: can confirm, had mine beside the toilet for over a month and it seems to stay on for as long as it takes me to get the job done then switches off after you walk away.

another positive, the light is really mellow so it doesn't blast you into 100% consciousness.

Any reason why it is better that these ones from bunnings?
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/lytworx-battery-operated-motion-…

    • I'm guessing the main difference is in the brightness adjustment, Bunnings one does "50 lumens" while the Mijia does 0.7 or 3.8 lumens (adjustable)

Maybe the sensor is better too in the Mijia.

    • Got the Lytworx from Bunnings a while back for a high traffic area of the house, very bright and very sensitive. Lasted a about a week. Mijia Light claims 6 or 12 months dependent on settings from the aliexpress link.

      • Are ytou saying the light was completely dead even after changing batteries ?

        • Battery was not included in the Lytworx kit, used my own, a week later(or there abouts), flat.
I've never replaced the battery it since.

  • The one with the rechargable battery is brighter right?

  • I have one with the inbuilt battery, motion sensor works quite well. It's not very bright tbh, I personally prefer white LEDs which are much brighter than these yellow lights.

Just an FYI - I've purchased both of these. The newer model has a lithium battery which is great, it is also much brighter and the sensor is a little better (can detect a tad further). Also the newer model is smaller, and like another person mentioned, has a hook, and a magnetic clip plate which you can stick anywhere, and the light will magnetically clip on. The older one does not have this.

    • thanks im glad i bought the usb version

      • Nps! Also, the 'newer' version allows you to keep it on permanently if you like. It has an Off, Auto, and On switch. I have 2 of the USB versions and 1 battery and am glad i spent a little more on the usb ones.
