Photographic Camera Lenses - Achievable Prices?

I'm looking at purchasing a new camera lens, specifically a Canon 16-35 F4L.
I noticed most shops now are selling it for around $1,346.

What is a reasonable number I should be able to negotiate the price down to? Is aiming for 15% reasonable?

[Update 7 September 2017]
Only managed to get the lens for $1,270 from JB Hi-Fi Elizabeth Street

  • Break their balls, then come back and report.

  • Went for $1080 in a march ebay deal from teds. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/298099

    • damn, $1080 is going to be hard to match again since eBay covers that discount.
gonna try and see if I can haggle to $1,150

  • You can sometimes pick up cheap lenses with the eBay 20% off sales. I picked up the Canon EF 100mm f2.8L Macro IS USM Lens for $800 (with AU warranty) from the Good Guys eBay, they usually sell for $1100-$1400.

  • Are you set on this lens for a reason? Have a look at canon lenses in the current ebay 20% sale.
Similar lens Canon EF 17-40mm F4 going for ~ $900 after PICKUP20 discount with AU warranty

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Canon-EF-17-40mm-f4-Wide-Angle-Le…

Main difference with this lens is the 16-35 has better corner sharpness and IS - just an option for you to consider depending on your needs in a lens

    • didn't realise there was a current 20% sale I'll take a look
I'm set on the 16-35 because of it's performance, the 17-40 is quite old (since 2003) and does not hold up well with current generation sensors as the megapixels creep up.
