Xiaomi Smart Home Aqara Human Body Sensor 217027701 Zigbee Wireless Connection / 7m Detection $15.11 AUD / $11.99 USD @ GearBest

110

These are the same sensors, but with the ball and socket attachment, which offers extra possibilities for targeting an interested area. Dont forget to use cashrewards for a few more percentage points. These are currently going for more on the other usual places so its worth grabbing this.

Note the countdown clock says the deal ends about 8pm AEST Monday 4 sept 2017.

  • Anyone managed to get this to talk to mqtt?

      Mqtt? This one is zigbee.

      • Ok, is there a ZigBee hub that can talk to mqtt?

        • Nope, not directly at least (to my knowledge).
You need a home automation hub, check out homeassistant.io

        • @ulun-lpg: I use openhab and I've run up homeassistant but the best home automation is node-red and mqtt.

Anyone managed to get this to talk?

I made it fart on a google home when someone walked past.

Brilliant. That's how you put home automation to good use!

Doesn't seem cheap. I'm using the non-ball joint one as a trigger to record on my Xiaofang cameras. Works well and is more reliable than the camera's own motion detection as it can be used to detect people walking past and also cars instead of wind blowing trees.

    • I'd agree. I've got about six of these now and don't think I've ever paid more than $10. All older versions without the ball joint stand though.

      • Can you share a link? I've been looking to purchase 2 older ones. Thanks

        • Had problems with both that I had the motion detection didn't work reliably. Something isn't right :(

Just the usual vendors. The price fluctuates pretty wildly. I've bought from gearbest, light in the box, geekbuying, bangood, and I think zapals once. I just check when I'm in those sites already and buy when cheap.

    • Do you just at that up in the xiaomi home app?

      • +1

Yes - via the automation settings. The first option in Chinese is to trigger video recording.

        • How long does the battery last? Thanks

    • +4

Yeah they're great for catching the lazy delivery drivers trying to deliver a "you weren't home" card rather then the parcel.

  • Do you need a zigbee hub then?

  • does this version require the hub device more than the normal one? the RRP in china for these with out the brand is about 12 dollar AU. so 3 dollar extra for shipping and that mount thing is kinda reasonable

    • No. Both require hub the same amount.

Can you attach a gun to it and have it shoot any possums it senses?
