After a watch has been in stock at retailer for a certain amount of time and not sold, they are often returned to the manufacturer who clears them at a discounted rate.
A couple of things to consider about Bulova (but not necessarily this model). On some models, they use their own proprietary screws. This means you may have to return the watch to a Bulova service centre if out of warranty, instead of a watch smith. Also, refurb watches are often display models. They may have slight blemishes on the side of the case or bracelet. Usually, they are like new - minus the protective plastics. However, Bulova has been known to mark watch cases with a tool by making an indent on the bottom of the case. This is a known fact as I have seen photos on WatchUSeek. I would possibly contact the vendor and ask if the watch has been marked.
Bought the Accutron 2 Alpha from these guys during one of the sales for just over 200 and have been very happy with it. No noticeable markings on the case
