Tyre suggestion for Mazda 626

Hi

I recently purchased couple of months back 626 mazda 2000 model (classic GF series-Sedan, my first car also) which has mileage of around 125k.

Before purchase when arranged for vehicle inspection, mechanic told me front tyres (Bridgestone brand don't remember the model) are good condition can last for another 30k kms but rear ones also good but cheaper quality.

In the last weekend, my rear tire had flat tire and tyre got damaged beyond repair( my fault) I didn't felt under certain distance in the highway. The spare tyre tread is also worn out so not recommended for driving. I need to replace the tyre at an earliest.

I would like to replace the front tyres to rear and get a new pair of tyres for mazda 626. Instead of buying one I felt to buy two and replace the front tyres to rear and get new tyres. My usage is atm is hardly 500-750kms per month but I intend to keep this vehicle as long as it goes. (mechanic said the car is very good condition and can last upto 200k kms easily). I'm happy with the vehicle and this is my first car and no idea about cars before.

So please suggest model and looking for good grip and comfort/silent. The previous one are 195/65R 15 size but the manual says 195/60R 15 with load rating 88. So I think I should stick with 195/65R. My driving mostly in city and on weekend planning to go long drives in summer times. I'm based in QLD (Brisbane) and suggest some stores. Based on suggestion I'm thinking of looking for online price and call kmart or similar stores for price match.

Please advise.

        • I'd hate to see the bill for suspension on that car

      • Triangular are way worse - trust me.

  • The previous one are 195/65R 15 size but the manual says 195/60R 15 with load rating 88.

Look in your door sill/fuel cap/bonnett, should be a sticker there with the recommended size.

Best not to change from that as it will affect things like performance and speedo.

    • Agreed. Also grab the rear tyre that's OK and put it on the spare rim.

    • Thanks scab. I dont know why the previous owner has changed from 60R to 65 R. If I stick to orginal specifications I need to change all the four tyres and also a spare.

Go to your local tyre store and speak to someone, or any of the several online tyre selection tools.

  • I researched online before asking here as I found many brands and not sure which one suits well before going to stores. If I have something in mind with price I can get good bargain.
