Getting a business class upgrade on Jetstar with Qantas points

I have about 200K Qantas points and want to use them towards a Jetstar flight to Honolulu later this year. I was hoping I could do some sort of points+pay to get into business class (yes I know it's not a real business class).

However, the QFF website makes it very difficult to choose Jetstar flights and the dates I want are never available (even though they are available on the Jetstar website. Am I missing something, or is it just really hard to use Qantas points in this way?

Is there a reason for Jetstar? FYI If you could get 80k more points you can do a business round the world fare which is way better value than anything else qantas offers. Up to 5 cities, 10 segments, any oneworld airline

  • Well, I guess it is. I'm trying to find an option to fly from Sydney to Phuket by Jetstar Business via point redemption.

However, even there is direct flight from Sydney to Phuket, the redemption website will only show Sydney to Phuket via Melbourne where your sydney to Melbourne trip is economy only.

  • Sorry I am new to flights and I cannot be helpful but have the following question myself:

I have an upcoming flight from Sydney to Adelaide and just received an email from Qantas that says make an offer of points+money to upgrade your flight from economy to business class.

The offer page is a bit flexible but there are minimum amounts. The absolute minimum that I can offer for one leg is 3000 points+$195 (not guaranteed to be accepted by Qantas). I have never flown in any class other than economy and was wondering if it's worth to spend an equivalent of $225 in points and money to get this upgrade for one leg of the flight (Syd=>Adl).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

it's a short flight keep your money and use it for something you will actually enjoy

Qantas have been sending me almost Daily offers trying to get people to use points to the point of desperation

you could find yourself on a oldish 737 and business isn't anything special on those, extra leg room and regretting waisting the money on nothing really.

      • Many thanks. In that case, I'll just click on the 'make no offer' button.
