Best Place to Buy Travel Medicines

About to travel overseas and have had my injections.

The doctor also recommended I buy some tablets for malaria, diarrhoea etc.

Where is the best value place to buy these tablets?

I was thinking of getting them from Chemist Warehouse but wondered if you had any better alternatives?

I doubt you'll find Malarone cheaper than at Chemist Warehouse. You can't buy generic atovaquone 250 mg + proguanil hydrochloride 100 mg tablets in Australia, so we're screwed in that regard, but at least it's cheaper than it used to be (assuming you have a Medicare card). http://www.pbs.gov.au/medicine/item/9439T

In the UK you can buy generic tablets at ASDA for around AUD $2 each (and a bit more at competitors).

If you're planning to use Doxycycline for Malaria then the generics are cheap everywhere, including Chemist Warehouse.

If you find a cheaper price on-line you can always try price matching though.

    • A generic Malarone is now available in Australia. It's only subsidised on the PBS for treatment, not prophylaxis.

  • Victoria St Richmond

    definitely get diarrhoea and anti-nausea.

double check on what medications you can take in to the country -some countries don't allow codeine (e.g. japan) or antidepressants (e.g. middle east)

      definitely get diarrhoea

i agree, it's all the rage.

      • Personal experience, its really shit when you have it on a day with an 8 hour flight. Pun intended.

    Where are you going?

  • TUMs and doxylamine are probably the only travel medicines I bring with me. Priceline.

    (profanity) malaria. Dangerzone
