BUY Destiny 2 or Not

Based on my understanding and my previous experience on Destiny, Destiny 2 would be like a "Raid Raid Raid" MMORPG game.

You might need to spend a lot of time on it in order to get the best gear, like Diablo 3….

There will be a lot of DLCs coming up I assume.

So my question is, what type of players would enjoy Destiny 2 most?

As I'm a causal gamer, is it good to buy this game?

  • I am more of a quick casual well more hardcore quick games or rotational kind of gamer/guy so a new cod would excite me more than a new destiny or PvE centred raid type game. Same reason I quit WoW PvP started getting stale and boring and everything around me was either dying or becoming raid proof.

  • Destiny can be enjoyed without raids since they still have all the strikes and missions, if you don't raid or do PvP gear quality isn't as important.
But wait for reviews is the best thing to do

  • I love Destiny, it takes a special kind of gamer to grind the same things over and over and again and enjoy it.

Destiny 2 claims not to be like that, but it will be, it's Destiny. And I kinda hope it is. Not long after release there might be a demo or something, or just watch gameplay online. I wouldn't preorder it, unless you live in a busy place it's not going to sell out on release day.

  • This year imo has been a lacking in decent games to grind. I've been just playing heroes of the storm, overwatch and various games on steam, but nothing that takes the cake like Overwatch did for me last year. I'm hoping Destiny 2 will be the goty for me and from what I've seen the hype has got me interested enough to pre-order. In terms of DLC or expansions, I suspect there will be a lot since 2 have been announced already way before the game was even in it's first beta (console) so that should not be a shock. But, if a game is good then I'd be glad to support the devs by buying their expansions and enjoying their content - I've noticed good games that continually drop expansions don't become abandoned by devs (no brainer there) and you get a better experience as the gamer.

  • Destiny 2, aka: Destiny, Garry's Revenge DLC…

I am a hard core player of Destiny, so my opinion is biased, but I find it a great casual game to just run around in and shoot at things. It doesn't take much brain power and interaction with random players is great.

I also like Destiny because it's a great game to just play with mates in a relaxed fashion while you chat about other things in life. People who take it too seriously don't seem to enjoy it for very long. Destiny for me is more about the great community behind it than it is about the game itself…

I've also found that people who play/like games like COD/MW/Battlefield etc etc don't tend to be able to focus on the PvE portion for very long.

Raids are fun to do once you get yourself some regular raid buddies, but after a number of times, the same boss fights and encounters can get a bit dry. It's more about the company you keep while playing that makes it worth playing.

Strikes (ie: mini raids) are great… but same as raids, after a while they can get a bit repetitive.

Buy Destiny 2 if you like grinding and farming for armour and weapon, laughing with a few friends but also like the MMORPG style of gaming. Don't buy it if all you want is the meta load out to shoot people's faces off in PvP. No dedicated servers will make the PvP aspect suck just as much as it did in Destiny 1…

  • +1

To get the most out of this game you gotta get involved in the raids. Takes the game to an entire new level.

I too am a weekend only type player but you can still get to end game content easily. There is no rush.
