    20% off All Telstra Recharge

    Tempting

    • +3

Was just thinking the same thing. I think the voucher code is valid for like 2 years or something?

Could stock up for the next few months

      • I think it might be 23 months.
        I recharge @$50/month, need $40(after discount) x 23months = $920…hrmm might do it.

        Edit: Just checked my google photos of previous vouchers and the expire date lengths varies;
        Purchased on 12/09/2016. Amount $50, Expires 16/06/2017
        Purchased on 21/04/2017. Amount $40, Expires 22/03/2019
        Purchased on 24/04/2017. Amount $30, Expires 25/10/2018

Gotta factor in interest loss though :)

          @MadMaxBargainRoad:
3% with RAMS online saver, 2% CPI, most people will earn above 37K so got to account for tax rate of 32.5c per dollar.
True gain in purchasing power = almost nothing

        • +1

Interesting. I bought one last week - expires July 2019.

        • +4

@cwongtech: There are people with mortgage which is roughly 4%. You can also buy the same voucher from WWs using egift which is 7.5%. The other thing is buying these vouchers month to month can also net you multiple fuel vouchers. Bunch of small savings but they do add up.

        • Buying 8 months of recharge in advance is probably safe then?

        • Is it still worth buying one at 20% off if you need one anyway, or is that not worth it either?

        • +2

@MadMaxBargainRoad: Assuming "WW" means "Woolworths Wish", where can you buy those with 7.5% off?

        • @MadMaxBargainRoad: 7.5%? The one generally available is using cashrewards which is 5%.
          How do you get 7.5%?

        • @zhandu:

          Egift resellers.
Not allowed to be listed on classifieds anymore.
But search and you shall find.
Ask and you shall receive answers.

      • Can get my $40 Freedom Plus down to $32/month.

Although, with auto recharge it seems to recharge every 30/31 days, but with recharge codes I think it's only 28 days… still over the course of a year it would be 13 x $32 = $416 vs 12 x $40 = $480.

BUT… if I get forgetful and miss a recharge, I'll lose all my build up recharge credit which I can use for Google Play Store purchases (currently at $180)…. Hmmmmmmm

    • Indeed. I've never seen discounts on Telstra recharge before? I currently pay $30 every 28 days (or $390 per year), so 20% savings is $78. But I'd have to buy 13 of them, and with the 3 limit per customer, I'd have to visit 5 different Coles… is it worth all the hassle?

      • +1

One near work, one near home? Repeat for a few days?

      • +4

Self service check-out ? Unlimited vouchers… 3 vouchers in one transaction, rinse and repeat.

      • Can't you buy just a few ? Why one year? Just buy what you can. I will buy a few, already got 2 spare months from eBay deal (paid $83.50 for 3 recharges by using $20 off) I will probably buy 3 more as will mean $24 per recharge. Add the fact I use value for Netflix , play music and apps I am in a win win situation;)

        • Why not buy 1 year's worth? Why should I only buy 3 and then pay the other 9 months at full price?

        • @MrZ: well you said "is it worth all the hassle". Also in reality we should buy only 3.

Telstra Recharge Schnitzel, even more tempting.

    • Is it availble in Coles Express? Would like to use it together with AMEX's 40-10

  • +2

Purely Nuts Dark Choc & Sea Salt

    Isn't that an oxymoron?

    • I think it's just a brand name.

      • +1

I have a vendetta against 'holeproof' socks after getting a hole in them too

  • Anyone tried those schnitzels? Any good?

    • +1

I think they are magically all the same size, so may contain chciken lips?

      • That's disappointing.
I noticed a drop in quality in the Coles schnitzels (4-pack) about a year ago. I'm wondering if it's because they used to be chicken fillets. Now they are definitely formed chicken meat.
Has anyone else noticed the same?

      • HEHE! Chicken lips! In Thailand a delicacy is Duck Beaks! Yep! Imagine being served up a plate of quackers and sucking a skerrick of meat off the end of each one.

        • So in Thailand duck schnitzels may contain duck beaks?
Btw, that's a good looking Pecking Duck there

        • Coles actually sells duck tongues in certain suburbs with a large Asian population, saw them at Hurstville Sydney.

        • @Scab: A breast man myself, but I think that eating offal was made popular due to poverty and for no other reason. As a youngster I ate a lot of Lambs Fry and kidney. Not any more.

        • @Peck:

Offal is expensive these days, I still enjoy tripe and lamb's fry.

          Yum, I love organs.

    • Not really: there is about as much crumb as there is meat.

You're better off going for the packages of four or eight chicken breast schnitzel (regular crumb or herb/garlic), which are significantly better.

  • It's probably been asked before. Can the "Telstra Prepaid 4GX Wi-Fi & 3GB Data $29.50" be unlocked?

    • Yes, ebay for < $3. Or people have also had luck getting it done for free by going into a Telstra store and saying they are going overseas and want it unlocked.

They are tough to find (well for me at least) I visited 3 Coles, and the 4th had one left.

I also noticed they had the Telstra Pre-Paid sims with 1GB + 5GB bonus for $10. Must be activated by September 4th. If you want to use the wi-fi right away, best to get the 6GB for $10 deal, and save the included 3GB.

Cadbury Scorched Chocolate Jars 380g $5.00

    Yum yum

  • PLEASE bring back Toblerone Black (400g for $9.95). Buying it at the airport duty free store is such a rip-off ($16.45)!

  • Thanks OP.

  • Where would one find the telstra recharges in-store?

    • At all checkouts.

    • It's in the options within the self-serve checkouts, or simply ask the checkout person.

  • ANY BARGAINS?

  • So buy two $30 Telstra starter kits and get one free? Or am I looking at it wrong?

    • +1

$30 gift card isn't the same as cash

and $30 telstra starter kits are $15 on their own website atm, $11 at mobileciti

If anything, you're losing $8 and buying a $30 gift card at full price

  • Well I'm still on/the old broadband data pass and I'll be buying Coles gift cards at 7% off plus the 20% Telstra discount. Then use my Google play app and claim back the credits effectively paying 3% lol gonna top up a lot of the $140 for 16gb tier making it $4.20 per 16gb with 2 year expiry!!!

    • A bit confusing:
      - where to buy Coles gift cards at 7% off ?
      - can you buy recharge coupon with gift card?
      - I use iphone. Can I use Google play to "claim back credits"? how?
      - what do you mean by "paying 3% lol"?

I also have an old broadband data pass $140 for 2 years, 16G, try to see the best way to recharge it.
previously I just buy woolworths gift card with 5% off.

      Thanks.

      • Good questions.

    • Did you build the app yourself? Any interest in changing the parameters and selling a customised copy for a small fee? ;)

  • Can someone definitively say how long the Telstra vouchers are valid for? Enquired yesterday, was told 24 months, went to get some today (different store), insisted they were 28 days.

  • Visited a Coles self service checkout yesterday and there was no Telstra $50 mobile broadband recharge option? There was $10, $30 and $130 mobile broadband options plus a $50 recharge but this was for mobile phone. Will try another store plus I also want to know the expiry date?

  • +3

Hi guys. Noticed they also have an offer where if you spend more than $200 in a transaction and scan your fly buys then you get $20 off your next transaction. So I bought 7x $40 Telstra recharge for $224 and straight away bought 1x $40 Telstra recharge for $12 ($32-$20=$12). That's a total of $320 worth of recharge but only cost $236. Just hope you get someone who doesn't know about the 3 recharge per customer limit :P

    • So what's the expiry date on these?

    • Went to order 5x $50 Telstra Prepaid vouchers and the staff said only 3. Better come back and do the weekly shop to hit the $200 mark with the 3x vouchers at once.

      • +2

        Use the self checkout machines.

        • Thanks I did that today and it worked. Yesterday i went in at 845pm before closing so i didn't want to test it out after the staff said no to 5 vouchers. Wished i did though, so i can smug face her while walking out.

          So purchase today 1/9/17:
the $50 vouchers expires on 8/8/19
the $40 vouchers expires on 2/8/19

Got my $20 Flybys credit for spending over $200 too!

        • @Wantone: was your $50 one for broadband data or mobile? Do you know if you can you use them interchangeable?

        • @danyool: Mine is for Mobile. Sorry i don't know if they are interchangeable. But i would think the broadband has different recharge voucher values.

        • @Wantone: ok thanks

    • Just came to post this haha

Bought 4 $40 (me) and 3 $30 (wife - stay at home mum, doesn't use as much data as i do) for $200 exactly after 20% off

Going back to do the same again tomorrow with a newly activated flybuys account haha

  • Purchased 7 $30 vouchers at self checkout. Expires 01/08/19. 7 vouchers is the limit. Printout had note "Not all recharge amounts include data or 28 day expiry. Please check your offer details."

    • I think that is just a standard comment on the voucher as all mine have that too including ones that I purchased months ago.
