Skype Voucher for testing?

Does anyonehave a skype vouchers that give a few minutes for testing calls?

Wanted to test it out before I buy some credit. Seems I have to buy $10 min from skype, which is fine if I knew it worked well!

Hoping someone has a promo for some minutes kicking around?

      Oh….. That could work! Thanks

  • I used skype on my mobile while overseas and it worked like a treat. I've also used it calling from a PC to various countries overseas. I've also used skype on a laptop while overseas to call home and it worked fine (skype to skype and also skype to landline/mobile).. I've been using Skype before it 'blew up' and became what it is today. So, lots of experience with it and really haven't had any major issues when it comes to using with credit or just skype/skype calling.

I know that's not a voucher type thing but I thought saying my experience with it might be helpful too :)

    • Thanks… Yes I only really want to use skype for when I'm 'overseas' as well and need to call back to a landline. I've got a voip account, but finding a decent voip client is a PIA. Each time I head overseas there seems to be some new thing borked and have to fix/make sure it all works.

So looking at a more reliable product that does land line calls. Skype wasn't really on my list for my dislike of what it's turned into. But the calling credit doesn't seem to expire, and while I dislike the per min rates for Australia landlines, the few hours a year I need to use it, won't send me broke.

I normally try to get away with other voice products, facebook calling//hangouts/whatsapp etc.But sometimes you just gotta call a landline and these products don't do that. Well google hangouts can, but is in the same price boat as skype. So wanted to see what skype was like before I cough over some money, as I know what hangouts calls are like.

      • Have you tried Viber for call making? I have used it to make viber to viber calls and it was pretty respectable. However, I'm not sure about calling a landline from overseas.

        • Thanks for the tip but viber doesn't do landlines, only viber to viber and I've got enough of those app2app calling products now.

        • @JimmyF: It does because it's got Viber Out which allows you to call anywhere..It's the same deal as Skype.
          Source: https://account.viber.com/en/call-australia
          To call a mobile in Aus: 10.9¢ / min ( ~ 0.14 AUD)
          To call a landline in Aus: 2.3¢ / min ( ~ 0.03 AUD)

        • @pikapika: Oh interesting…. I was looking at the app in the app store and didn't say anything about viber out calling. They hide it well!

Ok back to looking at them again.

Go with Skype for phone calling, can't go wrong. Great service.
